I have done an exhaustive job bleeding the clutch in my 348. The fluid was ink black at first, then turned nicely clear by the end of the second bottle of DOT 3/4 fluid ! The original problem was with the clutch pedal depressed, the clutch would slowly engage even though there was still "normal" pedal pressure pushing back on my foot. Recently there have been occasions when I let the clutch up, it would not have pressure for about 1/4 of the travel for 1 or 2 seconds. Has anyone heard of or experienced this problem ... ANY help would be SO greatly appreciated !!! I can easily handle the repairs if I know where the problem is !!
Do you think the throwout bearing may be sticking? Could be, perhaps it could an issue with the master cyl sticking. I have seen that before but have never heard of the t/o bearing causing this issue. Also, if the fluid was THAT black, there could be sludge/gunk in the brake fluid resivior which is getting into the system causing this issue. Ive seen that before also. Usually pull the master cyl out and clean all the crap out. Refit and re-bleed the system usually fixes it. Have you seen any improvement since bleeding the old fluid out?? Or you still have the issue?

I agree with Pap on the master cylinder, if the clutch was slowly engaging while depressed it sounds like the fluid is bypassing the plunger. It is pretty easy to remove the master cylinder, two bolts on the firewall and a bolt on the pedal (which you have to stand on your head to remove). When you get it out there is a circlip that holds the whole thing together. Disassemble, clean and see if anything is torn or gouged.
I agree with what others have said, it sounds like a problem with the clutch master cylinder. Pull it out and rebuild it. Plugzit bought a rebuild kit from GT Car Parts for $30. Here is his thread with some pics. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=310129 Oh yeah, and welcome to Ferrarichat, and the 348 Brotherhood.
