I just bought a second 250 GT SWB by CMC in order to mildly convert it into a competition version. I asked CMC how the bumpers were attached, explaining my plans. They answered that it would be better to wait and not destroy the model I have, because they are going to produce a competition version themselves!

This is great news I think. I'm only wondering which chassis they will take as an example? The current CMC model is a 1962 car. There weren't too many 1962 cars raced. Maybe one of the silver Ecurie Francorchamps cars? Or the second Stirling Moss Walker car?

I'm sorry, this is not true as I have never said that CMC is going to produce this model. You are combining two seperate converstions into one. I simply said that it would be cool if they did one at some point, but that is just chat. I apologize if there was a misunderstanding.

I don't know who you are and don't recall mailing with you or anything, but this is the mail that I got from CMC today:

    Dear Mr. Biggelaar,

thank you for your e-mail. Removing just the bumpers and adding some decals will make the 250 GT SWB not a competition version. Many details would be still missing. We definitely will release a competition version in the future. So I think it would be worth the waiting before destroying one of your models.

Bigodino, do you know if MC will make at some point Ferrari engines on display bases ?

Their Auto-Union Type-C engine is amazing but I would love to see a Colombo on display.

And, yes, #2689GT - Pierre Noblet, Jean Guichet. Le Mans 1961. Silver with blue stripe.

I am the Sales & Marketing Manager for CMC (USA) - the US home office for CMC.

These "New Releases" are supposed to have been kept secret until our official announcement
at the Nürnberg International Toy Fair next month in Germany. That is where CMC makes their
official production plans announcement for the new year. I guess the "cats out of the bag" now!

Sorry to hear that this information wasn't supposed to be out yet, but in the mail I got from your collegue in Germany there never was anything mentioned about keeping it confidential (I've copied and pasted the complete e-mail in my previous post).

Anyway it remains great news and I'm looking forward to buying the competition version, especially the silver one!

Hi, sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. Maybe you could ask CMC directly or dangmckane on here.

If that is the case, you will realize how important an online forum is for marketing and the CMC's bottom marketing and advertising dollar. I think its a good think he spoke of your furture release as now you have people wanting it. Good for you and CMC!

    - Not to worry, these things happen. I am very excited to hear of the new releases myself and looking forward to seeing them in person. I will be attending the
Nürnberg International Toy Fair next month as the US representative for CMC(USA) - The Fair runs from February 5th through February 10th. If I have the chance,
I will be taking pictures of any prototypes or mock-ups that are on display at our booth and I'll be sure to post whatever images I get so you all can see them. :)

I recently came across the CMC model range. The previous stores that I purchased my models from did not stock CMC. They are truly works of art. The attention to detail is faultless. I purchased in one go the Ferrari 250GT, Mercedes transporter, Mclaren SLR in silver, Mercedes 1954/55 W196 R, Mercedes 300 SLR together with display boxes for each model. Ordered the Ferrari 1953 500 F2. Store owner thought it was Christmas with my order and as I paid him cash. I would not describe the CMC model range as models. I believe scale replicas would be more appropriate. Kyosho for the money is excellent value, have their F40, Enzo, BB512 (my favourite). Auto Art is as always excellent. However CMC is at the top of the pecking order.

Now, who do I speak to at CMC to request that the 1995 F355 be built in 1:12 and 1:18? They will go nicely next to my 1:1 1995 F355. Also need them to build the AMG Cl55 Kompressor.

SLR is the only modern car that CMC ever made. I highly doubt they will make a 355 anytime soon.

Here are some pictures I took today. The paint is very striking and the detail is amazing! I'm still not too fond of the wire wheels and think they should have been painted a dull grey. But that's the only criticism I can think of. I can highly recommend it but if you want this silver version you may have to be quick.

Outstanding model Peter. You can paint the wheels with a primer plus dull aluminium paint from a spray can
