Guys.. Sorry if this has been asked before but is the Ferrar 250gt by CMC a quality mobel? and worth the £100? (sterling)? asking price? Thanks R
Rod, I started my collection with die-cast models, primarily in 1/18th scale. As I became more familiar with the vast number and different types of models available I switched over to hand built models only. The one exception is die cast models by CMC. They are, IMHO, the very finest on the market. Yes, they're costly but once you've aquired your first, and compare it to models from other die cast manufacturers, you'll understand why. The quality of finish, assembly and detail, is unmatched by any other company.
yes - i believe it is well worth the money, the quality is world class I have the cmc 250 swb and no other manufacturer compares in 1/18 that I have seen. The model could be easily displayed from below the detail is so amazing. That said, I am hopeful for the 1/18 bbr 375 I've pre-ordered to be its equal.
The CMC does look good but check one out for yourself before buying if possible because the thick chrome and incorrect wire wheels have put me off. It's all MHO ofcourse. Best, Peter
Thanks guys..... I am a big fan of the Kyosho ferrari range having most models... It's a shame that exoto do not do road going ferrari models.. or do they? Def going to buy the CMC model.. Thanks
The CMC 250 GT is very good (the best I have seen at this scale) ! Better than Kyosho. Kyosho, I'm also fan. They are quite good models for that price. Exoto also are good, but delays .... it's not their cup of tea :-( If you look at their web site, you can see that these models are planned : I hope they will be released ... one day ! Some F1: 1952 Ferrari 500 F2 1958 Ferrari 246 F1 1980 Ferrari 312T5 1982 Ferrari 126 C2 and road: 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO 1989 Ferrari F40 LM 2003 Ferrari Enzo 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 1987 Ferrari F40 1997 Ferrari F50
Exoto's "plans" for Ferrari road cars are just BS. They've missed their estimated delivery date for the 250GTO by four years, and haven't yet delivered a single Ferrari in their projected Gran Turismo series. IMO the CMC is the best Ferrari diecast you can buy for less than crazy money. I like it so much I'm considering their Maserati Tipo 61 "Birdcage" due out soon.
I agree with you about Exoto and their failure to deliver. As for the quoted two monoposti I surely hope they're 1/18 scale and not retooled Revival 1/20 scale kits! (Exoto offers those as well). Better wait for the CMC 500 F2. Best, Peter
Since this might be the place, as I said before BBR is beginning a 'high line' of Ferrari models in the same price range as the CMC. The first is a series of 375 plus cars, beginning with the Trintigant/Gonzales LeMans Winner #4. As you all know, BBR is a pretty well respected name. There are some good photos at scale18.com I think it is good that CMC and BBR are filling this market segment. I also think that this will make Exoto less likely to compete a highline car that has already been done...but then it was unlikely they were ever going to produce anyway. Am I being dumb? How can CMC produce model Ferrari's when Mattel have the sole license? And whats exoto's web address? R
www.exoto.com for exoto as for BBR/Kyosho/Tamiya/CMC producing Ferrari models - HW has the license and they make agreements with the previously mentioned companies to produce some Ferrari models as well. I've noticed that on my Kyosho Ferrari models' boxes they have the HW name/logo on them.
