Aren't those rivets around the mid-section rather oversized?

Local shop. He beats the Ebay prices regularly and it gives me the oppertunity to inspect the models before buying. I'll see how much of a problem the rivets are.

yap, those rivets are a real problem, other than that the car it´s awsome.....of course, lacking a race livery doesn´t help either...

I don't think, that those rivets are a problem. I just compared catalogue pictures of my CMC Maserati 250 F with the real thing in my cabinet.
On the pictures the rivets appear just as oversized as on the 312 P. But in reality the rivets don't disturb the overall appearance at all. Quite the contrary. They are spot-on. Not all things have to be perfect in scale to appear correct. Sometimes die-makers do a perfect job in adjusting details. So in this case.
This model seems to be stunning.

    Best Regards from Germany

    Martin

Hope you´re right because i love this car and i really want it, i also had some hope that the pictures actually made the rivets worse that than they really are...i hope the first of you guys to get one can clarify that!

When looking at the pictures of the naked body on the CMC homepage one can see that these are real rivets in a thin brass pannel so I think this is how small they can get with the paint on it. Even if they are to big when scaled up they are very well done and the finished model (I have the Spyder by now) looks great. CMC might be expensive but at the moment one of the best cost-benefit-ratio I think. For all those buying the model I do not think that they will regret it.

I just got the spider and I'm very impressed! So much so that I also ordered the berlinetta version.

    My remarks:

    - the rivets aren't as prominent as on the pictures. So don't let that prevent you from buiyng one.
    - stance and ride height are fine.
    - too bad the engine cowl doesn't open wide enough to give a good look at the engine. also, the rollbar prevents the cowl from complete detachment. To be fair, i'ts the same with the real version. They had to unbold a few bars to get it completely off. It would have been great if CMC had also made the roll bar detachable.
    - I'm not a fan of the front wheel spinners. I know they are historically correct, but they look more at home on Ben Hur's chariot! :)

Could anyone tell me if the rear bodywork on the berlinetta comes off completely? If not, does it go up far enough to give a decent look at the engine?

This could be such a nice model if they did not try to assemble it like a toy with huge screws. Also the windows should not be plastic. Do what the model people do and vacuform them so they are correct scale thickness. And the rivets are huge. They belong on the side of a battleship not a racecar!! Close but no cigar...They spent the money on R&D but did not use their brains when designing this model.
