If finding the CMC case proves too difficult, another option could be this:

    Porsche Transporter Display Case (35.5X9.8X9.6)-replicarz

It is pricey, and big, but it is a good quality case. It allows you to extend the ramps, with extra space behind the ramps (thereby adding another car to the display). The pics below (excuse the quality) show the set-up I had for a while. I'll admit I dismantled the set-up after a few months because I was afraid someone would end up knocking it over :)

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.

It is now early November and I have not located either the CMC display case or the Premium Classixxs #99111 display case that was suggested as an alternative above. Any further ideas on where one of these might be found? The Premium Classixxs dealer has also sold out of them.

    Thanks

Contact Carney's Plastics and they can make one to your spec. Their work is excellent and I have been using them for various projects for years.
    This is all their work.

Oh, I have wooden cabinets too. But I started running out of space and Carney's Plastics gave me a good space saving solution.

And i don't want to highjack the thread. Just saying that Carney's make custom display cases to order for anything from a matchbox car to hockey jerseys for NHL.

Are the plastic cases air tight? Dust can still get in if it's not air tight in rgeards to display cases... :(

They are not really air tight, but pretty close. I have not had any issues with dust in their cases.

However, if they build a case for the transporter, and not a multi car one like mine, it will be air tight. Just like the original CMC one. The cool thing with them is that they can use different colors plexiglass. So you can have your case with black base or white or red. Also I think they are not that expensive. A wall case for 12 1:18 cars is like $115. This is less than $10 per car, which I think is more than reasonable. What I like the best about them is, that their cases can be hung on the wall like picture frame and that saves a ton of space, while providing a very good view of the models. And then you can add to it and basically just "extend" the display as you need it. I have seven of them next to each other on one of my walls and they look like one long case. They offer tons of options.
