The Pirelli version of the XWX that so many of you fit is in stock again. https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/215-70wr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn12.html And actually we have just received the massive rear tyre for the Miura SV https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/255-60wr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn12.html
Any thoughts on the CN12 vs. the XWX for the 365GT? I am going to need a set of one or the other before long.
There are a fgew things wrong with this tyre test https://www.longstone.com/images/tire-test/auto-bild-klassik-e-type-jaguar-tyre-test-english-final.pdf they have basically done the maths wrong and given the Pirelli P5 a 2.1 when it should have been a 1.2 overall. I also think the Michelin XWX was harshly treated what model is it though? https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/365.html I would just fit the 205VR15 Cinturato CN72 on a California or a GT 2+2, Its tall and lovely, fills the weel arch, a taller and mor luxurious tyre. I do think if i were in a relatevely hot climate, and my car was on XWX as OE i would stick with it. that test is kind of testing these tyres as modern every day tyres, but an XWX is brilliant at blasing around hot roads in a wrm climate on a Classic Ferrari. its a tough call. they are both Brilliant tyres, but the OE thing might tip the balance for me, because subtley that is what your car was set up with.
I have had the 215/70 XWX on my 365GT 2+2 for decades... seems to work, so I will probably stick with it. My car was made in 1969-- I think the XWX would have been OE, but who knows at this point?
yes it would have sort of havbe been the XWX. however it isn't quite as simple as that. I did get a bit nerdy about this a while ago and ended up writting this blog to save what i had learned. https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic/michelin-xvr.html You probably dont want to read it. Your eyes will glaze over with boredome. (like my wifes do every time i start talking about tyres or telling another one of those dreadful jokes i have been telling for the last 20 years.) Basically yes it was the XWX tyre, but in 1969 it was called XVR instead. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
