lol damn! car was for sale in canada? At 289 CAD? CNC's gotta have atleast $60k in that car at that price, if this car sells, great for other scuderia owners
Yes we brought it back into the states and paid all the fees etc for getting it back here. Wild spec and I love it! I think you like it or you don't but I think it is awesome!
It's a hassle but not that big of a deal since it was originally a US car (from sticker). So long as they didn't change odometer to KMs it's really just paperwork and shipping fees. But props to them for taking the gamble on an unusual spec.
dont forget the i think it is 2.5% tax that gets paid to get it across the border.. but still cool car..
Looks like a very clean car. I absolutely love my RC Scud but if someone offered me $300K for it, it would be gone.
On the flip side, it's 6.1% duty to bring a foreign made car (not manufactured in the USA or Mexico) into Canada. Add to this, the Provincial and Federal taxes that can total as high as 19.1%.... The ultimate killer is the weak 72 cent Canadian dollar compared with the strong US dollar, which makes for an additional 40% premium to the any potential purchase price. 2.5%? Ahhhhh. that's a drop in the bucket! LOL cheers FN!
your math is backwards, all your assumptions are on the basis of the car being brought from US to Canada, this was done the opposite on this transaction. The 289 CAD asking price already had all that duty built in. lol, its 6.1% to bring it into canada. its only 2.5% to bring from canada to US. Also you wouldn't pay the Canadian sales tax if you were exporting it. So even if CNC paid the full 289k cad ask, they'd be into the car for about $230k USD assuming they bought the car about 2 months ago. (incl. ship, US duty, brokerage, etc).
Thanks but read the first four words of my post"....on the flip side...." Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
but whats the point of stating the flipside? the car was brought into canada at a time where the exchange rate wasn't where it is today... additionally, depending on who owned it, the sales tax wouldn't really be applicable (corps recover it) what your saying is only useful if someone now wanted to buy it and bring it back...
Thanks ... Much appreciated. To be specific, the point was a "tongue and cheek" comment about the relative low tax cost of importing a non-USA/Mexico manufactured car from Canada into the USA versus importing it into the USA... Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I think the real tragedy in all of this that no-one has mentioned is the $8200 "racing stripe" option. Beautiful car in a very unique combination. Good luck.
