Yup. I remember when I first realized older Ferraris cost as much as a new Honda; I was shocked. The general public is not aware that if they want a Ferrari, most people can manage it IF they have the desire to make the commitment.

I'm glad I bought red though.

The way I look at it... the people who don't already know that they can afford a Ferrari are the same people who we, as enthusiasts, don't want to see buying them.

    Why?

Because any enthusiast already knows, and non-enthusiasts will neglect the cars and try to cut corners on maintenance. After they get done with the cars, none of us are going to want them.

That was kind of my first thought. I'd rather people bought Boxsters and Z cars while I'm looking...

As an example for the article, they show a 1984 red/tan 308QV listed for $48, 900!! Doesn't even have the original wheels...

So if I swap the original 16" wheels on mine, its value goes up $30k?

And I want to know where I could get a Countach for $50k.

It seems that these articles do nothing but state the obvious (but not always correctly).

Notice the 308 GTB QV - they call it a GTB, then show it as a GTS

Then again, I had a woman talking to me about the F40 saying how a $60,000 car should have a stereo in it LOL

I think most car enthusiasts know that fact and also know that maintenance is high and can't be a daily user.
I'll have one of that $60,000 F40 also.

True - you could take any of the "New buyer needs advice" threads from fchat and it would be much more informative than this was.

Just interesting to get a glimpse of what the public gets fed when it comes to Ferrari's...
