Whats the deal with more and more of the news on CNN.com being videos ?? Currently 7 out of 12 'top stories' are videos. Two of them I was really interested in reading.

I dont want to watch a video..i want to read the news...and most of the time I cant find a link to text.

If this is the future I dont like it.

I agree. Especially since they make you sit through some dumb commercial. Come to think of it, that's probably the reason for it... $$MONEY$$

I'm with you. I wouldn't mind the option of video or text, but almost everything seems to be video only.

It's like that Jerry Seinfeld skit,

"What's with the scrolling news bar on the bottom of every news station now? I watch the TV because I don't want to read!"

www.slate.com is always a fun read. Lots of crosslinked references for documents/articles/transcripts discussed in each article, along with some big name writers. I'm also not a fan of the move towards video news on cnn.com. They are good for a laugh or shudder every now and then, as the way they're presented sometimes comes across inappropriately due to the "watch now" text before each link. ie, "Woman falls to death from 40th floor of building. [WATCH NOW]"

Probably the same reasons youtube.com sold for $1.6B. Just a guess.....

Absolutely agree. I have no patience for news videos, even without commercials. I can skim text far faster.

If you're reading a google news then you'll have about 6 different news articles on the same thing so no need to watch a video. I think the question should be who gets their news from the CNNMSNBCABCFOX's anyway? If you really want to know what's happening you have to dig deeper and read the blogs and other news sources. Not unless you want to know, what they want you to know ;)
