Has anyone applied Opti-Coat 2.0, or similar permanent sealant on their Ferrari? I put it on mine and was happy with the result but really missed the need to polish and wax it. Anyone else try it?

I put it on my 2005 C6 silver Corvette, 2010 white Ford Expedition, silver 2009 Hummer and silver Ferrari 360.

Gtechniq Exo V2 is one of my favorite coatings. It is one of the slickest on the market. Cquartz finest is right up there in terms of slickness. Modesta seems to be the boutique of coatings, but cannot be purchased as a consumer.

Hello! I'm an authorized installer of a few coatings and stumbled across this thread so I thought I'd chime in - even though coatings take away that zen feeling you get from waxing, you can still wax the car, but your durability goes down the tubes: a wax that gives several months of protection may only last a few weeks as it essentially oozes off of the coated surface. And in the case of high-gloss coatings like 22ple, a coat of wax may end up muting the finish.

Ultimately, if you're coated, the best option is to leave it be.

Polishing is a whole different story - polish abrades and/or refines the surface to remove imperfections, which can still happen on a coated car - it's just abrading the coating instead of the factory finish (which is a good thing!). Your need to polish a car, coated or not, is really dependent on proper wash & storage technique.

Coatings on Ferrari paint systems-especially the older single-stage paint systems - are one of the best investments you can make: it goes beyond just looks & protection and really offers a way to preserve the finish as well.

Just a personal experience, I've used 22ple on a few vehicles, applied by a local professional. The oldest application was on a car I actually traded a couple months ago. I didn't feel any overwhelming urge to wax until the 22ple was clearly starting to dull slightly. My experience waxing from then on was that it restored the same level of shine as 22ple when applied on a waning coat of 22ple, better than wax alone, and it didn't just ooze off. So maybe an aged coating of 22ple allows for a better surface for adhesion and retention of wax than fresh 22ple.

I definitely don't feel any overwhelming desire to wax the other two cars I have currently coated with fresh 22ple. Enjoying the vacation. Quick detailer only. :D:D
