So.. you cleared the code? And that of course got rid of the check engine light.

What kind of help do you want here? You have a problem and the car gives you a code indicating what the computer thinks is wrong.. and you clear it from the system.

What you also did was clear any codes stored not visible to the OBD2 reader I hope they were stored on the computer for future SD2 diagnosis. It sounds like an MAF issue to me and I[d lean in that direction. I'm not trying to mean or ornery, but I'm not sure just making the CEL go away is solving the problem. Do you have a cold mixture readout? Are there any other leaks in the intake? Have you looked for any vacuum leaks? Are the gaskets at the base of the intake intact?

I agree with Curt. My car suffered the same problem and I did the same thing - clear the code and "hey all is good". However, over time it would rear it's ugly head again until it did become a problem. Here is what I did; make sure the battery is FULLY charged - a weak battery can cause havoc on the car's computer 2) check for any misfires ( I started having a lot of them). 3) make sure the gas cap is on good and 4) check the MAFs which is what it ended up being the problem on mine. If you replace the MAFs then make sure you do a "re-learn process" on the car.

I purchased the MAFs out of Germany for $180 (shipped in four days) off Ebay. They appear original but if you look at the box you will notice the Bosch aluminum seal has been broken which may mean they are remanufactured (hopefully not Chinese). Seems to work really well and my car runs the best since I have owned it. No more rough starts and the car runs much smoother.

My MAF took 9K miles to finally get bad enough to have to replace. I only had to replaced one. The codes I was getting was "left bank too lean on start up" then multiple misfires. My guess is that you will eventually find out that a MAF is going bad.

There is a FCHAT member that is a Ferrari mechanic that made the statement that "I have never seen a MAF be cleaned and work" meaning that when they go bad, they go bad. He called MAF cleaner "snake oil".

You really need to get all the codes and find out what is going on.

yea, clearing the code really do no good. I am surprised even lots of mechanics do that.

I agree. Most likely you have a MAF going bad.

    I suggest replacing the MAF's.

You can find them in eBay for a great price.

CEL came back. p1169 again. Rough start still happening. Is there a way to check the MAF? Also have another issue. During cold start battery light flickering shutting off the radio etc. Once car is at normal idle its fine. Maybe loose connection on alternator im guessing. Hmm
