I just had a buddy of mine get me 4 boxes of these Ltd Ed Cohiba Torpedo Cigars that are apparently hard to get.

am I missing something here? Should i start smoking Cigars?.

Why are they so special and pricey?

Is this the Cohiba EL Pyramid? If it is the 06 then they were just released IIRC. I think the last time the EL pyramid was released was 01.

Go over to cigarweekly.com forums I think there is a post about the new EL release

I'll get more info when I pick 'em up.
Apparently they are pretty sought after cigars.
But, I know nothing about them

I ask because that is one the easy ways of identifying a fake... the few glass-tops out there are insanely expensive, but are common victims of fakes.

The 2001 LE Piramide (Torpedo shaped) can run for, well a LOT (50 USD a cigar from a certain Canadian website). The 2006 won't be ready to smoked for two to three years. And those are the only Cigars that fit the description of a Limited Edition Torpedo.

They're special and pricey because they're made in small quantities by expert rollers with exquisite tobacco. Also because they're Cuban and get a mark-up accordingly.

Piramides are torpedos. The DC's are good. Boxes are as much as 1K. Get a good humidor and put them inside of it for at least a year.

They should knock your socks off.

They are good but there are others that are good too. A good box of Punch DC's or Partigas Lusitanias will blow you away as well.

If you are getting the Cohibas for 5-600 then maybe so. I'd smoke one first. Even though they'll get better with age, they should be good now. Bring them next thurs and I'll look at them and give you my opinion, FWIW. I should be there with a tobacconist too.
