Just wondering if anyone has noticed any discrepancies between the yellow decals on the coilpacks and the connections between the coilpacks and the spark plugs?

Below is a picture of the left bank coilpack with the yellow decal.

    The decal shows:

    7 8
    6 5

My leads aren't numbered, so I would have to remove the cam covers to confirm that the decal is correct.

The question arose when I looked at the original Bosch diagram for the left hand coilpack:

e.g. ECU pin 50 sends a signal to coilpack connector pin 3 which triggers a spark on cyl. 5 & 8

Connector pin 3 is shown below:

The connector pins are numbered 3, 2, 1 (reading left to right). Voltage is applied on the middle pin (2) and pins 3 & 2 trigger their "onside" spark plug outputs. i.e. pin 3 triggers the left hand (vertical) pair. Pin 1 triggers the right hand vertical pair.

The original Bosch diagram shows pin 3 triggering cylinders 5 & 8 which disagrees with the yellow decal.

Is anyone in a position to check that that decal is correct (on a 5.2 car)? It may simply be that the original Bosch diagram used a different numbering system.

    Thanks!

Just checked: My decal accurately corresponds to my plug wires, and pin 3 triggers 6 and 7. Pin 1 triggers 5 and 8.
This would mean the original Bosch diagram is incorrect.

This diagram matches my car's connections:

    Excellent. Thanks, Paul.

That clears up a lot of the confusion. There were 3 or more different sources all disagreeing in one way or another.

    For info:
I physically checked that the ZN (violet/black) wire is attached to connector pin 3 (as marked on the Bosch coilpack). All sources agree that the violet/black wire is attached to Motronic ECU pin 52.
I also checked that power on pin 2 and the on/off application of an earth on pin 3 triggered a voltage on the left hand outputs of the coil pack, so it was just the connection from the coil pack to the spark plugs that was (previously) unknown.
