One of AF most decorated heroes passes away
A real shame and Bud was a real American hero. I saw him at the Eglin AFB Beach Club (blown away by a hurricane eventually) several times and always bought him a drink. His bar bill was never too high because everybody felt the same way I did. Rest in peace. He paid his dues the hard way.
I was fortunate enough as a young flight surgeon to know and care for him and his family on occasion. There was NO finer man, officer or American. He was the real deal. There can be no overstatement. Fair winds and Blue Skies, Misty 1.
Wow... I learned something that was worth learning today. Incredible man. Had not heard of him, although have heard of (of course) McCain and Stockdale.
I recently read his biography. It is a case study in human perserversance and fighting for what you belive in. Fascinating man.
