Hi all In need to buy this cold air flexible duct that connects the external side intake with the airbox as it’s melt down because of the radiant heat from the catalytic. OEM price is crazy and quality low. Will burn again. Any suggestions? Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
What is the internal diameter of the hose? I have a few sources but need to know the size first so I can send you in the correct direction.
The following company will have what you need: http://www.flexaust.com/group/industrial-hose/ I would look at the high temperature silicone (normally orange in colour options). Best of luck
As you can see there are a LOT of options and it is fair to say that there is more than one good choice. Raceflex might also be a great choice. I am just a little more familiar with the silicone hoses having used them for years in brake applications on race cars.
Hi After long time searching for the right duct, here you are the result. A pain in the ass to fit though.. I bought the duct at Demon Tweeks in UK, single layer silicone up to 300C, 114mm inner bore size (standard is 110 but this fits much better). The length needed is 115mm each side, so you will need 3m as it’s sold by meters. The OEM duct was completely destroyed by radiant heat from the cats. Peace of mind now. Hope you like it! Job finished.. you cannot see the orange duct. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very well done! Hope that this alleviates the heat issue. Interesting the mid-engine's distance from air intake to the throttle body and the bend at the airbox input.
If I were any of you I would remove the L+R engine bay side panels to check the condition of the standard ducts. OEM Quality is low and it is not 100% fire retardant which is not a minor concern. If yours is damaged like mine was, debris will enter engine bay and you will loose fresh air to get into the Airbox. It’s a 10 min Operation. Nothing to loose a lot to win. Demon Tweeks duct copes 300C of radiant heat and it is serious flame retardant.
