Newer owner here. Had some weird problems today with the f430 spider. First time not driving it for more than a few days since purchase (sat idle in my garage for 10 days). Upon start the idle was a little week and also fluctuated, as I heard cold start issues are normal for these cars (outside temp is around 59 degrees F). I let it it idle until things stabilized, then took it out. I had it in race mode from my prior drive, so I noticed the engine held gear for an extended amount of time ~5k rpm in first (car is in auto mode). I decided to switch it to sport. As I was coming to a stop, the car just shut off on me. It started back up and I turned around to bring it home and let it sit for a minute and check to see if any noticeable issues were present. Noticed the suspension warning light came on. Turned the car off and restarted. Tried taking it out again and the same issue with shut down happened, but I noticed the car didn’t downshift to 1st gear before it shut down this time. Any ideas?

Probably a problem with the on-board voltage. Check battery.

Thank you. I hope this is the issue. I didn’t realize I was going to be sick for over a week, so I didn’t think to put the car on the ctek battery tender. I guess 10 days idle can wear down a battery. I plugged it in, and hope once it’s back to full charge, the problem is gone. That would certainly be best case scenario. My mind immediately went to thousands of dollars in repairs

Weak or wrong battery (I recently experienced) can cause all kinds strange gremlins. Ten days with no trickle charger is definitely enough to cause some weird stuff, especially if the battery isn’t new. Wouldn’t worry until you try it again after a full charge.

I agree with the others, fully charge your battery, clear all the faults, then drive your car again.

If your battery is more than 3 years old I recommend replacing it preventively.

Note to self. Make sure you plug in the tender for any extended period of time. Though, I didn’t expect to be sick for over a week.

100% was a low voltage issues, as the car is running perfectly now that the battery is charged.

All I saw was “ in auto mode”……[emoji15]

Anyway, glad the issue resolved [emoji1303]

With a battery in good condition, it should still work fine after two weeks. My battery is now three years old and will hold its voltage for three to four weeks without a charger. I think the quality of the batteries is a bit higher in Europe (Varta, Banner, Bosch), but nobody knows where they are actually produced.
With us, too, the quality drops noticeably with rising prices.
But on short journeys, the battery needs more energy to start than to be recharged while driving.
