What is cold start ? I understand it is because the engine fluids are cold, but why is the car louder ? And why does it sound sooo much better ?

My car sounds amazing when cold, and it even *farts/pops* like an old race car...but then it warms up and the sound is great but not as amazing. Anything i can do to keep that sound ?

Have you unplugged the electrical connector in the engine bay that controls the vavles? That should help...

Are you talking about the beautiful intake sound the engine makes? I wonder the same thing. It howls when you first start it and sometimes at red lights.

Do you have stock intake or aftermarket?

Forget the sound, I like that comically huge cloud of smoke my 997 throws after its been sitting for 3 or 4 days.

Yes that sound ! It is so deep but then it quiets when the car warms.

I have stock intake. Only mod is the Muffler By pass and when the car is cold, the sound is out of this world. My wife hates it :D

Oops, I read that quickly and thought you had fabspeed cats. Knowing you have the muffler bypass have you thought about adding the cats? Sound is really aggressive with that set up.

I'm assuming some of what you hear when the car is cold is valve-train noise until things get warmed up which is probably not possible to duplicate.

I was thinking of getting the cat by pass as well although it says on their site it is not for street use.

What is valve train noise ? I will try to make a video when i start it later today leaving work.
