I noticed yesterday the large 19mm ID vacuum hose that goes from the AAV to the cold star valve is collapse from the vacuum on my QV. I remember when I installed that hose several years ago it was very stiff, I guess it lost its strength so today I went to Deering Industries as they sell this coil to go inside the hose to prevent from collapsing. Normally I would just buy a new vacuum hose but the problem is, it’s so hard to find a cloth braided in 19mm, Newco has one but it’s like $49/foot. Anyway this coil only cost $10 and it’s design for this purpose and I got to reuse my cloth braided hose.

I just replaced all my hoses with those from Newco, they are good quality Continental made and look correct. They are a somewhat thinner wall than the orginals, so I will kep an eye out to see if the heat cycling causes them to kink or collapse from the vacuum. Your walls look about the same thickness as the Newco ones.

Actually there were no symptoms as it still idle at around 2k rpm sometimes 2,500 when cold the settles at 1k rpm after a few minutes so maybe it’s not 100% close when collapse, it’s mostly visual when I noticed it.

Yes, I did the same thing, I used a smaller diameter rubber hose piece that fit inside the main hose. Fast cold idle now at about 1,500 rpm for me too.

I used an old 2V injector bushing. Then after a while I removed the whole device. Just uses the thermo-time-switch now. There are choices for the TTS temp/time.....

Ya know, I always thought that the spring solution had to exist out in the wild somewhere. Thanks!
