As far as potential future collectablity which would you pick (all same condition): 964 Turbo look C4 964 America Roadster 964 Speedster 88 turbo look cab 89 Speedster 98 Carrera S 97 Carrera 4S
I highly recommend to buy the car you love to drive/to look at/to enjoy.... "Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future" (Nils Bohr). Just saying...
My 2cents-I own a few semi-collectible P cars. Love the look of them and I REALLY drive them! However in many markets a manual vs auto/tiptronic seems to hold more value or purity. I still have tip and PDK and love driving those cars. Manual desirability may be different in USA. For eg there is a $40k difference between my 964 tip and manual. Anyway, on your list I say the Speedster is the most collectible but look at the $$$ to get into one of those. 964/993 S models in manual seem to be a good bet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i had a 964 speedster they are the read headed stepchild of the speedster world production numbers are lower on the america roadster porsche (collect ability wise) should have merged the AR body with the 964 speedster windscreen / top
Everyone thank you for your responses. Has anyone driven a 964 Widebody Carrera 4? It seems like the speedster 89 or 94 or a 993/S is a good pick?
i had an 89 c4. hated the way it drove. you need to explain what you are looking for. all of those cars have appreciated and are now already collector cars.
The 993’s LSA rear suspension makes it the best handling air-cooled 911 by a wide margin. No torsion bar surprises! Matt
Perhaps I lack objectivity, but based on looks, feel and rarity, I would say 964 speedster. And while it has appreciated, it's time has yet to come. Give it 15 years and lets see where we are Image Unavailable, Please Login
I purchased a 993 C4S, immaculate, low mileage and FSH. Has appreciated. Love the way it drives. Great all around mix of collectibility and driving pleasure. They weren't made in small numbers, but good examples are hard to find. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Indeed. Big dollars to invest though.A friend of mine has one, they are an amazing car, but I still believe you have to look at $$$ spent + hold time to work out if it's worth it to each person. Also, how quickly sellable is it, if you need to realize the asset. A lot of people don't like to discuss the investment side of these cars, but no one wants to lose money. If you can drive it, enjoy it and sell it for the same money years later, that's a winner to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Investment ? Bought mine in 1998. Nobody really wanted them at all for many years. I guess at the right price, it sells quick. There are not many in the market these days. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's my '94 C4 Widebody. During the last 2 years I've put 20k miles on it. I like this car alot. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In my mind it seems as if there could be a limit on how far a 4 wheel drive sports car can go...price wise. That's just me. I'd stick with 2 wd. and henryr said it....a 3.6 964 turbo should be on the list for collectiblity if your gonna drive it just buy the one you like the most.
964, 3.6 yes. Again, a lot of money compared to some other options. I love the 993T, however prices on those have dropped on the research I've done. I was offered a 993T with 30,000 miles mint cond at $50k USD below what it was advertised 6 months ago. They couldn't sell it. So to me, the low production numbers, most affordable $ wise, (that's different for each person Of course), is how I look at a usable investment Porsche. 2wd and manual coupes are the real bonus points, that I am seeing. Others will have different POVs which is good! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
even the 964 3.3 turbo. dont ever think you can go wrong with having the big dog. plus, aren't you planning on using it ? we have two really nice 97 C2S tiptronics in the warehouse... both over 50k miles if your interested you can pm me.
I'm thinking of trading my 88 F 328GTS+cash for a 94 Speedster w/ 60k miles or 996 GT2. What does everyone think?
