Tomorrow is going to be a good game against Oklahoma State. I think it will be a tough game for the Longhorns and will be the hardest game yet, but I think we can do it.

I'm watching the Florida/Kentucky game and heard reference to this article:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/sports/football/24florida.html?em

    snippet:

"...In late June, at the Olympic track and field trials, Demps ran even faster, setting a national high school record of 10.01 and matching the world junior record for the 100 — a time equal to the seventh-place finish at the Beijing Games... At Louisiana State, for instance, Trindon Holliday, a receiver/back, has finished second and third in the 100 at the N.C.A.A. track championships and has a personal best of 10.02...The two seemingly fastest football players beyond high school — Jim Hines, the 1968 Olympic champion in the 100; and John Capel, a receiver at Florida in 1998 and 1999 — ran 9.95 but never really made the transition from sprinting. Capel’s professional football and track careers false-started after he tested positive for marijuana. Hines played two professional seasons at receiver, but was nicknamed Oops because his hands were not as reliable as his feet..."

42-3 FL leading KY at half...ouch.

Oklahoma is leading 35-28 against Kansas State in the 2nd Q. Oklahoma should get smoked by by anyone with a defense.

That was ugly, and what in the world was that playcall on fourth down on the final drive, you put in Miller at fullback the jumbo line and run it up the middle again. Even if you get it short again it's much safer than what they called I couldn't believe what I saw.

Oh well a win is a win.

As much as I don't like OSU, I was disappointed they did not pull out a win. Looked very possible until the end.
Penn St should go undefeated. How could they not, with that schedule...

LSU's defense....ouch. Gave up 100 points in 2 weeks. Granted, FL has bounced back and are looking very scary to face in the SEC championship game, and UGA who has also bounced back well.
Bama beat Tenn 29-9. Pretty good play by Bama...still some offense to work on. But a nice W up in Knoxville.

    Roll Tide.

I knew it was going to be close. OSU is a good team. They are no over rated Mizzou. I think Texas Tech is even better. If the Longhorns play against Tech like they played today against OSU, I don't predict a win for the Horns. This will be the 2nd hardest opponent they will play this year next to Oklahoma. If they play sloppy like they did today, they won't win.

Missouri absolutely destroyed a decent Colorado team, 58-0. Unfortunately for them they have to win out (including a likely Big XII championship rematch with Texas) to even have a chance at a BCS bowl.

But I thoroughly support a playoff system, and a part of me hopes that Texas, Alabama, and Penn State all remain undefeated. One team will get screwed out of the championship game, and show how stupid the BCS system is to start with. A 16 team playoff in December and January would bring in even more money than 4 BCS games. Let everyone else have their bowl games between Christmas and New Year's. I would guess a college playoff would be even bigger than the NFL playoffs.

This way undefeated teams would all have a shot. Boise St or Utah would get their chance to actually play somebody and we could see just how good they are.

Yep. Credit to TN's defense, they are good. Kept them in the game for a while. But once we went to pounding the ball we wore the D out at the start of the 4th Q and it was smooth sailing from there.

I would like to see Texas and PSU in the championship game. Alabama could make it, but I don't see them winning out.
Glad Ohio State is out of the running, they have stuink it up twice in a row in the big game. I think Alabama, Florida, or Texas would win against PSU. I'm hoping there is growing support for the lack of a championship caliber team from the Big ten. Hopefully this will be the final example.

Typical dumbass Greg Davis play call. He needs to be fired. He should have been fired last year. If Mack won't sack him, Mack can go too. I'm tired of Gregg Davis.

To me, all the dominoes are falling from the Alabama-LSU game; I believe Texas will go on undefeated, with only one possible but distant upset chance. I think if they are not very careful, my Crimson Tide could really get behind the 8 ball - even with Auburn.
As much as I love JoPa & Penn State, to match them with Texas for a championship I am afraid would be a very embarrasing blow-out, which really does not help either team.

That's exactly what they said last Friday on the radio. They said they predict Texas to go undefeated and Bama lose only one game. They said it doesn't matter and even with one loss, Bama and Texas should be the Championship match-up.

Yup. Should be Bama-Texas or FL-Texas. Assuming FL gets past UGA next week, which they probably will. Should be a great game, though.

I don't think a one loss UF or Alabama team will get ahead of an undefeated PSU team. A one loss Texas, 'Bama, USC would be interesting to see who gets picked. surely the others will feel unfairly excluded. This may be a neat and tidy two undefeated at the end of the season deal. That would give the BCS system legs for a few more years.
A playoff system of some sort is inevitable. It will be interesting to see how that gets meshed with the bowls.

... which begs the question, is a 1-loss 'Bama better (in terms of final polls/ranking) than a 1-loss 'SC? Does it matter if the lone-loss is prior to the SEC conference championship game, or a loss in it?

It's a shame that Penn State's schedule is on the weak(er)-side of the 'fence this season, because from my perspective, they have a really good team.

Also, a 1-loss 'Bama team to supercede [sic] an undefeated Penn State team would be unfair because based on strength of schedule, both are virtually identical in the BCS strength-of-schedule ranking (though in all fairness, 'Bama is slightly higher ranked in schedule-strength, but marginally). Though, a moot point if 'Bama goes 13-0, IMHO. Undefeated SEC champ' is uber over undefeated Big10 champ, at least this season. . .

(these are merely questions & curiosities I have, as well as personal insights/opinions that are obviously subjective)

SEC is not as strong this year compared to the previous two years IMHO. A one loss SEC team would probably end up below a one loss Big XII team in the polls. Both should realistically be behind an undefeated PSU team (or USC if they had not lost to Oregon State). The extra game may help a Big XII or SEC team in the computers also. However, many of the SEC schools drop their strength of schedule by taking lighter opponents in their OOC games. I think Texas seems to have the toughest stretch in the country with four top ten teams IN A ROW. If they can get past that I would be really impressed. Their determination in the win over Oklahoma was the best game so far this year (that I have seen).
The current Sagarin computer rankings list the conferences in order of strength as:
    Big 12
    Big 10
    ACC
    SEC
    PAC 10
    Big East
    The linky is here:
    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc08.htm
This is based on wins out of conference and rankings of those teams beaten out of conference.
