Looks like Les Miles is staying at LSU so the SEC should make it 6 in row.
LSU or Oklahoma. As usual, key injuries to key players at bad times will dictate this, Oklahoma has a lot of bad luck with this.
And TCU graduates 26 seniors including Andy Dalton, Jeremy Kerley, Jake Kirkpatrick, Michael Young and a host of others. Can we say a year of rebuilding. I wonder what Patterson can make out of the players he has left........
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/570502-2011-college-football-predictions-how-the-top-25-will-shape-up-next-season#page/23 Picks OU for the championship. Three teams from the SEC and four teams from the Big 12 in the top 10. As for the Big 12 (10 teams) I don't see this happenning as they will all play each other and provide losses to each other.
I think OU has won more football championships than LSU, maybe I am wrong. (I don't care about which century) Do you follow anything besides football, or are you just a one-sport homer?
Bad news if you're a Terp fan: http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2011/01/lsu_offensive_coordinator_gary_2.html Interesting times ahead for LSU's offense...a new coordinator and possibly at QB.
OK has 5 last one most recent 10 years ago LSU 4 most recent 3 years ago OK was beat like a drum in 2003 and 2004 by LSU and USC , the OK knobgobblers screwed the fans out of a real game in 04 by putting a overrated OK team against USC instead of a undefeated Auburn because that was the matchup they were hoping for in 2003. Now , ya wanna talk Baseball , LSU has a half dozen of those. BTW I believe I saw in another thread you talking about your time in locker rooms care to elaborate ???
I unabashedly am a one-sport homer. I don't care for anything but college football. But that would make sense because football in the south is more important and popular to it's fans than any other sport, at any level in the United States. Go Vols!
Professional Sports Photographer since about 1978, 'retired' in the mid-90's - nowhere near enough money in it, and the thrill of being on the sidelines, dugouts, rinkside or courtside disappeared. Everyone I have met connected with the LSU program has been great. In fact, everyone I have met with all programs has been real good. The real PITA's has ALWAYS been the overzealous 'fans' that worship the sport or team, those people need professional help. I have been in places where the fans are great, and I have been places I refused to ever go back to because I don't need to deal with idiots. I love Austin, but I never went back after the second or third time, as an example.
And still, if it disappeared tomorrow, everyone would be able to survive. Except for those in the south, of course. I like all kinds of sports and teams, but it's usually connected to the teams I have photographed, or athletes and staff I have worked with.
I can tolerate basketball on tv , but I do enjoy Hornets games in person but really don't follow basketball and I enjoy college baseball in person not so much on TV Major League , as long as I hear the Braves are losing and the Yankees are winning I am fine but really don't care. Football is king, I don't enjoy the NFL as much as I used to , I gave up my Saints season tickets years ago and have only been to last years Superbowl and a Cowboys game this past season since about 2002. I will be going to this years Superbowl in Dallas though but I will be there for work. I am also getting into volleyball since my daughter is playing so I guess I will be buying LSU volleyball season tickets this upcoming season.
Which one? Actually, I have not been to either. The only places I have shot in the 'south' are the Orange Bowl and Tallahassee. Both I liked. Columbia MO is the most f***ed place I ever went, hands-down. NO WAIT - check that - Boulder CO has the most arrogant moronic fans I've been around, even moreso than Austin and Columbia. I like Norman and Stillwater, Lawrence is great, Manhattan the fans sleepwalk, but that's because they have only been on the map for about 12-15 years. Iowa City, Chicago (Northwestern), Madison, all classy. USC, the Rose Bowl, all good experiences, the old Mile High Stadium, good but ancient, and gone now.
My reflex is to argue with this, but upon reflection I really can't. I have always rooted for Mizzou, even when they were terrible. Longtime fans remember getting killed 77-0 by OU, or having only three first downs against the Huskers in the dark days of the 80's. In the past few years I have noticed a certain unhealthy swagger on the part of a segment of Tiger fans, although why I don't know. IMO many of these are newer fans that probably went crazy for Notre Dame when they were good. There was a time in STL when there were more Notre Dame fans than Mizzou fans. IMO it is just people wanting to feel superior and/or obnoxious. Mizzou hasn't won s***. I don't think I was even alive the last time they won the Big 8. They have never won the Big 12. They have never been a BCS team. I go into each season hopeful yet realistic. As I have posted before, being a Missouri fan (any sport) means having your heart broken at some point every year, usually late in the season. You just have to approach the year like this. If they were to win the NCAA tournament or the BCS championship I think my head would explode. But we will never know because it won't happen. I am happy they are now competitive and hope that with the OU monkey is off their back they have a chance to beat them occasionally. Nebraska-Mizzou was this way. After they beat Nebraska once, it was about 50-50 from then on. I'm not convinced Pinkel is a great big-game coach but we will see how 2011 goes.
Last I checked the sign at Tiger Stadium said WELCOME TO DEATH VALLEY and has never been know as the swamp.
