So, I went to a football game today, and a basketball game broke out My University of North Texas Mean Green scored 62 points on Navy -- and LOST! Final score, 74-62 Navy. That's 136 points of total scoring in the game. Defense? What's defense?
Whatever you have to tell yourself, Frank. You're high on LSU being number one, and I can't blame you. I know what that feels like very well, and look forward to feeling it very often and very soon. As all of my latest predictions have come to fruition, this one is sure to be as well, and is further weighted by the current #3 recruiting class coming in. Landing Julio Jones would bump that up a notch or two . The SEC will be on it's way back to normalcy. When Miles leaves for Ann Arbor, LSU will revert back to what they were before Saban. Enjoy the Tiger's success now before the penalties and gambling catch up to 'em. I do hope that they win out and play Oregon and destroy the Ducks like Florida did the Buckeyes. That's the only way I see Less staying in Baton Rouge though. Good luck the rest of the way
Go Gators! Tebow had 7 TDs. Yes, seven! 5 rushing TDs to go with 120 rushing yards. 2 passing TDs with 304 passing yards. Too good.
Umm yeah, good recruits. According to pretty much everyone we have the #1 incoming freshmen class (assuming all of the verbal commitments stay with us) I didn't mention anything about Weiss so I'm not really sure why you brought him up. I'm withholding my opinion on him... this is one of the worst seasons in ND history, partially because we have an inexperienced team, but also probably because Weiss isn't as good as they say. Anyways, we'll see next year how we do
He mentioned Weiss because he's leading the ship of great recruits to the worst season in Notre Dame's memory. They fired coach Willingham for much less; if they don't fire Weiss, there will be some serious off-season uproar, regardless of the recruiting class.
Things are really being turned around at Thug U 5 loses so far and 2 more left in them. September 1 Marshall W 31-3 1-0 (0-0) September 8 at No. 5 Oklahoma L 51-13 1-1 (0-0) September 15 Florida International W 23-9 2-1 (0-0) September 20 No. 20 Texas A&M W 34-17 3-1 (0-0) September 29 Duke W 24-14 4-1 (1-0) October 6 at North Carolina L 33-27 4-2 (1-1) October 13 Georgia Tech L 17-14 4-3 (1-2) October 20 at Florida State W 37-29 5-3 (2-2) November 3 North Carolina State L 19-16 5-4 (2-3) November 10 No. 19 Virginia L 48-0 5-5 (2-4) November 17 at No. 11 Virginia Tech 3:30 PM ET November 24 at No. 8 Boston College
+1 Weiss had the #11 recruiting class this past year according to Scout.com. I'll give him a bye on that since they're true freshmen at the moment. HOWEVER, he had the #5 recruiting class the year before that. Meaning they're sophomores now and are experienced. There is NO excuse for going 1-9. NONE. ND fans can try and convince themselves with these worthless recruiting rankings, but at the end of the day, it comes down to coaching. Weiss is simply not a good coach. Look out for another mediocre year next season. P.S. It's sad to hear some of the stuff on how he treats alumni with little care. The fact he doesn't care that he lost to Navy last week or Army this week is pathetic. I guess tradition means nothing to him. Understandable considering the Pats had zero tradition when he was there. They were only known for their beat down by the Bears in '85 as well as being a franchise that moves around all the time.
Mizzou plays KU the last game of the regular season in Kansas City. Hope they win and beat OK for the Big 12 Championship. Then on to the BCS Championship game.
KU has a very good team. I am hoping for OU and KU in the Big 12 Championship game. Beating an undefeated Kansas for the Big 12 looks like the best (only?) way for OU to get to the BCS Championship game.
Kansas will take care of OK. OK didn't belong in the big game in 03 or 04 and they don't belong there now.
Yeah, we have 5 losses and likely 2 more to finish without being bowl bound. The Big 10 had the most thuggish moment this weekend. Glad OSU lost, I'd like to see Oklahoma and LSU in the championship game. I really thought we would have had a better showing for our final Orange Bowl game. There's always next year! Anyone want to fathom a guess for the SEC championship game? UGA / LSU??? BT
LSU is already locked as the West winner. Tennessee's secondary is suspect, and they have to play Kentucky. Andre Woodson could tear UT up and put Georgia in the championship game. If UT can stop UK's pass attack, it will be UT/ LSU, and LSU whould be able to throw all over UT. If it's LSU / UGA, the Bulldogs have a chance if they stay hyped up like they have been the last two games, but they will have to play mistake-free football.
current ap poll rankings, i can't wait to see what the bcs rankings look like... 1. LSU (40) 9-1 1,590 2. Oregon (22) 8-1 1,574 3. Oklahoma (1) 9-1 1,471 4. Kansas (1) 10-0 1,439 5. West Virginia (1) 8-1 1,340 6. Missouri 9-1 1,336 7. Ohio State 10-1 1,184 8. Georgia 8-2 1,130 9. Arizona State 9-1 1,122 10. Virginia Tech 8-2 1,013 11. USC 8-2 924 12. Texas 9-2 859 13. Hawaii 9-0 827 14. Florida 7-3 814 15. Clemson 8-2 613 16. Virginia 9-2 539 17. Boise State 9-1 533 18. Boston College 8-2 527 19. Tennessee 7-3 488 20. Illinois 8-3 390 21. Cincinnati 8-2 305 22. Kentucky 7-3 283 23. Michigan 8-3 237 24. Wisconsin 8-3 182 25. Connecticut 8-2 127 the mizzou ku game on the 24th will be the game to watch...given that both teams win this week, and some top 5 team loses, it's very possible that game could decide one of the teams that's going to the bcs championship game...
Dude, BCS poll has been up for like 30 minutes now. AP and Coaches have been out for like 7 hours, lol. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex
sry, they weren't up when i checked last, i literally checked right before i came back on here and saw they were up
If it's Georgia in the SEC Championship game and OK in the BCS game in New Orleans . It will be a repeat of 2003.
HEY BENNETT NO KIDDING, ANDRE SMITH JUST CALLED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My grandmother's nurse's daughter is his girlfriend, which I knew but I had never met her. She had heard about what a big Bama fan I am so she called my mother tonight to get my # so he could give me an autograph. I just happened to be there, downstairs watching the Chargers/Colt game. Mom came down to tell me he was on the phone and wanted to speak to me. Couldn't believe it. We talked about 15 minutes. Anyway, he is going to call me back after the game next week so he and I can meet. Pretty cool...
Pretty cool indeed! That guy is a monster, be careful! He will definately be playing on Sundays in the future.
If OU wins out, then they should play for the National Championship. If KU wins the Big 12, then they should play for all the marbles. 03 and 04 are over, so I don't see how either year's championship is relevant to this season.
I tend to agree with you (and Lou Holz) that the Big 12 champion will likely displace Oregon, if only because their strength of schedule is greater at the end of the season. One thing is certain, there will be a Big 12 team with at most one loss in the top 3. If they win the Big 12... Kansas: undefeated season, beat #5 & 4 (Missouri and Oklahoma) in their last two games. Missouri: defeated #3 Kansas, and redeemed themselves beating #4 Oklahoma in the championship game. Oklahoma: beat #3 in championship game, another 1 loss team (along with LSU and Oregon), but with a tougher schedule at the end of the year. Meanwhile, Oregon also has a couple of potentially tough games left at UCLA and Oregon State. LSU has Arkansas and Georgia most likely, two games that they cannot overlook. So while it is probable both teams will win out, given this year the upset might happen. When does the palyoff system start anyway? Take the top 8 teams, play three rounds of games (starting at New Years with four "bowl" matchups of the 8 teams). Play the second round a week later, and the championship game the Saturday night before the Superbowl. I find it strange that the reasoning for the current system is money, but why wouldn't you replace a championship game and three other bowls with six playoff games and a championship?
I have only seen highlights of Kansas, but Mizzou, and Oklahoma look good to excellent week to week. I think the Big 12 looks pretty strong this year and I would expect all 3 teams to either win or be very close in their bowl games, whoever they play. I think they will have 2 teams in BCS games. BT
