    Hi guys,

I've just put down a deposit for the 458. I used to have a Rosso Corsa/Beige 575 and a Silverstone/Bordeaux 599. I just can't decide on what color combination for the 458. I love the Rosso Scuderia and Grigio Scuro. But I just cannot imagine or decide what interior color to choose. I am toying with the idea of a two tone interior. Any suggestions or pictures will be very very helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

It's expensive but you might want to look at Rosso Fuoco or Fiorano. I think the 458 looks best in red but if Rosso Corsa is too plain, the metallics may solve the problem.

Also, I would look for Cuoio as a substitute for Beige. That's what I'm going to do on my next one.

I've looked up and down at two tone and I haven't found one that I like. But, one thing to consider is a making the upper and lower dash in different colors. If the lower dash looks like the interior color and the upper part is black, it can be pretty awesome and a lot more interesting that just another black dash.

For the exterior, metallic reds and various greys from titanio to Grigio Scuro are among the best for the 458, IMO.

For the interior I'm leaning to darker browns (ciocolatto, iroko). Grey or black only for a very sporty interior with lots of CF and maybe alcantara. And there are many two-tone combos that look good, provided they're not too bold. Look for similar shades better than contrasting.

As the exterior colour tends to dark, a lighter interior is OK as in Silverstone/cuoio or even a classic rosso/crema... oh, well, and this leads to the also impressive blues with crema or tan interior...

During his career, Tazio Nuvolari raced in blue trousers and a yellow jersey. How about TdF with Giallo Tristrato roof and pillars? This would look great, but likely affect resale.

...but that's just an example. Perhaps you can choose colors based on something you like, and maybe even Ferrari-related. Maybe you like crossword puzzles: white with black roof and pillars, black wheels, white calipers, black seats with white inserts, carbon fiber trim, white tachometer and stitching, etc.

Mine is in production with Iroko interior. I love the rich, medium brown of that color. Cuio is always a winner IMHO as well. You should see samples of leather colors in person as the configurator is not accurate and true to color. It has Iroko with a red/brown tint that isn't the true color.

    Hi,

Thanks guys for the suggestions. FYI, my previous red 575 had some accents of cuiou. It was very nice. I like the white with black roof combo. Perhaps with blue interior. I am leaning on reds or yellow though. Perhaps I really should go to Italy to choose the options. Thanks again guys.

    Cheers

I wanted to slightly change my color and saw a Rosso Corrso and Rosso Scuderia side by side and chose the Rosso Scuderia. If you can go to Itally to choose, that would be the for sure way to go and memorable!

I can really recommend that - awesome experience and really THE way to get the specs exactly the way you want them.

I can't help you with your dilemmas, I think there is too great a range of colour possibilities you still like.

What I recommend is that you go playing with the configurator to at least narrow it down to one or two configurations you really like. The colour interpretations of the configurator are not that great but it gives you a "look". If you then go down to the Atelier, the guys there can really help you to bring it to life. If you go there having no idea, the process gets more complicated and possibly frustrating.

I already knew 90% of the spec that I wanted but the visit really put the finishing touches on it, and meant changing both exterior colours slightly using real world examples.

If you can't go to Italy, then go through the same process and then visit a dealership with an Atelier section so you can see the colours in real life. Do this on a bright day, as it is vital to see paint samples in the sun and in the shadow.

Good luck! At least the good thing is the 458 looks great in any colour. :)

    Hi,

Been playing with the configurator. I have narrowed the exterior color to 4 possible shades: Reds, Yellow, Greys and White. It is the interior and some options that I am having a problem with. Its a good problem to have though. Hehehe

    Thanks again and cheers.

Consider a trip to NYC. Probably not as comprehensive as Maranello, but they have large paint panels and leather samples. It is definitely worth a visit, and indeed an easier one than going to Maranello (albeit less exciting!).

So you have narrowed it down to 10 reds, 2 yellows, 6 greys and 2 whites.... and then I'm not talking out-of-range colours.... Methinks there is some work left to be done! :D :D

Above all - enjoy the process! I find it awesome that today a buyer can spec his car to such a degree without having to resort to Sultan of Brunei type special orders.

Does Maranello offer every conceivable exterior/interior color? How do they do this?

Nothing beats seeing your color choices, in person, on a 458. Strive to do that and don't be surprised if you change your mind several times before the final spec. I sure did.

For example, they have pieces of painted metal formed like a part of the front wheel-arches. Also, in the atelier there's special lighting that can be tuned to simulate different times of day and sunlight or cloudy skies. Thus, You'll see the color changes under any lighting conditions.

Then there is a big pile of available leather/alcantara, carbon fibre parts, steering-wheels, rims, et al which You can touch, compare and match with other materials/parts.

You'll be watching a large computer screen with a configurator similar to the one on the F-website but with more options to tune.

Apart from that the person at Your side is open to ANY request You might come up with and will inquire about the chances of realization asap.

All in all I'd say that if You aren't able to tune the car exactly to Your personal taste THERE, You won't be able to do it anywhere else. ;)

    Enjoy !

Thank you guys. It seems like the Altelier is the place to be. My local AD in Indonesia does not have many color samples. Cheers.

Btw, what do you guys think of Mc Laren orange?

Suggest you drop by Singapore's dealer. They have all the color charts and ask to visit their service dept. you may see some colors and combinations you may like. However, more than 60% of 458 are red. There is about 60 458 in Spore, a no of them in two tone. Good luck.

I personally would order a mp4-12c in McLaren orange! Not sure I would do it on a fcar though. Rosso Dino is an option.
