I'm currently deciding whether or not to go and look at a 2 owner, RHD 328GTB that's Blue Sera with Red leather. It appears to be sensibly priced at just under £26k, with FSH, just belted etc.

I was wondering if the reasonable price was a reflection on the colour combination or merely that there was potentially something wrong with the car? It is not the cheapest RHD 328 available, but equally you can pay £10k+ for other examples.

Is colour dragging it down? Should I be looking at Rosso Corsa with Crema or Black instead?

I'm not really bothered about resale, as it's all relative to initial outlay, continued service history etc.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Matt,
the colour combo sounds pretty awful , TBH. I think you'll be stuck with car for ever. As always , a PPI is a MUST before buying.

I saw Nigels at See Red and it's certainly a nice one. I'm after a GTB though, so that kinda rules it out!

    Tony,

I take on board the PPI comments. The colour combo is not that bad in the pics. It's still a bit "individual" though! :)

    Cheers
    Matt

The price is definately to do with the colour. They have probably been sitting on it too long, so dropping the price to get interest.

To get leather recovered in crema would probably make it look great! I not sure how much a job like that would cost, Im guess 3K at least.

LOL. :D How true. Again, the GTS is lovely, but I'm hankering after a GTB.

It's a long story, but we used to have an '87 GTB in the family. I was lucky enough to drive it on a few occasions when I was 18, and ever since I've wanted one. I've driven a 308, 355 and a 550 since then, but my heart (not to mention my wallet) is with a 328GTB. :)

I'll keep looking, but may pop in and see the blue/red car tomorrow if I get the time. It's gotta be worth a look, regardless :)

Thanks for the advice etc. I'll be viewing with my eyes open.

    Cheers
    Matt

    Ade,

I think the car would need carpets, handbrake shroud etc etc done at the same time. Is this really so awful?

Oh all right - its not vile !

Having said that unless the one you had before was this colour surely if you're changing colour its not that different emotionally to changing from gtb to gts - gts would be more fun on the few summer days here I would imagine - what colour was your 87 GTB ? You could always colour code the roof on a GTS

The old one was Rossa with Crema, rear aerofoil and had the earlier, flatter alloys. I seem to recall that it was a pre-ABS car too?! If anyone knows the whereabouts of E790 SFD, let me know! :D

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. The seller is only about 10 mins from me, so may take a look. I'm still waiting for my BMW to sell, and then it's all go. Hopefully.

That car on the FOC website looks really nice... VERY low mileage though. Im not sure if that is a good or a bad thing on a 328....?

Matt, the pic you posted does look quite nice actually. If you love it, go for it. There will be fewer buyers around for that colour combo, so perhaps you can bargain hard.... :)

    Ade,

The red/cream car does look especially tidy. I do like the Blue/Red car, and as you say, the combination is not everyones cup of tea, so bargaining hard would be the order of the day. I have e-mailed the seller with a couple of questions, but have had no response yet.

    All the best
    Matt
