    Hey guys,

My wife and I are gonna be in Chicago the last couple days of this week and was wondering if you guys could give me suggestions on things to do, and places to see. Oh yeah and were NOT to go. I wanted to visit the CME but you have to be in a big group with a school, and it's just gonna be me. So I guess that is out. Also if any of you would like to meet up, I would like to put some faces to the chat names.

    Thanks in advance.

When I go into the city, I go down Michigan Avenue. I think they turned on the lights, so if you walk at night, the lights will be on. There are shops and stores along the mag mile.

    Thanks Matt.

We are staying at a hotel on Michigan Ave. so I think I'm good to go there. Someone also mentioned eating at a restaurant on the 85th floor, but I forgot if that was in the Sears Tower, or another building?

Any other places I should see?

Ernie, are you going to just be in the downtown area or are you venturing outside a bit as well? I can suggest some places outside downtown, but that require a car or $10-20 taxi fare.

Sure. Cool. IF you want to see some nice cars, the Lambo dealer is downtown

Try some deep dish pizza. I think Giordanos or Lou Malnatis might be good.

Did Brunch at Longman and Eagle last weekend (in Logan Square - 15 min drive from city), recently new, one michelin star, English Pub feel in decor, but the food was stunning.

If you want a quick dive recommendation - great, sloppy, messy, delicious Chicago Beef at Mr. Beef on Orleans/Huron.

Get breakfast at Yolk. Best breakfast food I've ever had, only 3 locations (all in Chicago)

Ernie, I'll think about some other ones, but off the top of my head I have to recommend my buddy's Dana Cafe... http://www.dana-cafe.com/

You'll get a better idea of it once you check out their site, but it's a ex-Yugoslavian owned place with desserts based on some of our food. Their crepes in particular are delicious and I'm sure you'll enjoy another dessert or two. If you're doing some traveling up that way in Chicago I'd highly recommend you stop in.

Another nice place is Hot Chocolate... http://www.hotchocolatechicago.com/

    Woohoo, I'm here fellas.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have all day tomorrow free, so if anyone wants to meet up let me know. I'm actually staying a block and a half away from Michigan Ave, by the park.

Your wife and you may enjoy Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo if it isn't too early?

If you want high end Mexican food go to Frontera. The mole sauce is fabulous. If you want local Mexican, try either El Barco on Ashland just South of Division or Tecalitalan on Chicago just West of Wood. El Barco is known for their snapper Vera Cruz and their tequila selection. Tecalitalan is a great lunch place. While it is not a hole in the wall, it is most decidedly not known for its décor. As a side note, if you are into cowboy boots, Tecalitalan is just West of Alcala’s Western Wear and Finn’s exotic boots. Alcala’s is always an interesting trip.

    We're visiting from Los Angeles.

Thanks for the heads up on the Mexican food places, but we have loads of them in LA, so I'm good in that department.
