CHICAGO, Illinois, February 5, 2004 – The most powerful road-going Jaguar convertible ever – the 550 horsepower XK-RS concept car – was unleashed at the 2004 Chicago Auto Show today.

Developed by Michigan-based Rocketsports Racing in cooperation with Jaguar North America, the XK-RS concept demonstrates how Jaguar’s luxury GT road car can be transformed into a thundering 200-mph supercar.

"At Rocketsports, we’re very familiar with Jaguar’s XKR sports car, having won the Trans-Am Manufacturers’ Championship two times with this beautiful, fast car," said Rocketsports Racing owner, Paul Gentilozzi.

I agree with Writerguy. The Jag was out long before the Maserati. Still, I see your point.

I guess Paul forgot to mention that his Rocketsports Trans-Am Jag had a Ford pushrod V8 and Detroit locker solid rear axle. Yep, just like the ones you get at the showroom.

    Looked good though.

too bad you'd have to rip out that pretty interior to stuff a roll cage / halo structure into that car before it's track debut; drop top + track = bad idea. why not just buy one of those neat panoz gts roadsters?

The DB7 was penned first by Ian Callum, who is Jag's head designer now and has been for a couple years. He's been responsible for the big concept cars since 2000. The DB7, like the XK, are based off the XJS platform.

The Maser stole the look from the Jag. One could argue the Jag stole the look from the Aston but if you look at the E-Type, then you know where they got their DNA from!

Dinodude, the pushrod was replaced and debuted in late 2003 by a 4.5L revised AJ-V8 unit with a 9k redline and was lighter than the pushrod engine to boot. So with some modifications, you know what the AJ-V8 can do in a racing application. Its already a very reliable street engine and makes a nice race one too.

The S-Type R was the car that was flipped because our wonderful driver braked late and was on the wrong line, two uhh pretty major mistakes.

    Though I could be wrong!
