All, I'm (finally) making my long-awaited trip to Florida... flying into Orlando the afternoon of the 30th, then driving to Cocoa Beach where I'll be working through the 12th. Don't know exactly what my schedule will be, but should be free evenings. Are there any events scheduled for the weekend of the 6th and 7th close by? I'm really hoping to meet some of my F-Chat friends on this trip... Please PM me if you prefer not to post anything publicly... Mike in Kuwait
Mike, I was going to start a thread for you here, but you beat me to it! I might be flying to Minnesota on Thursday to fetch a Ginetta for my brother, but the SSF crew will surely have a dinner you could attend. It is always a good time, although it would be about a 2.5 hour drive from Cocoa. Captain Willie should be ashore during your visit, maybe you could meet up someplace if nothing else? BT
Bill, Thanks! Looks like Thursday the guys at the company have a dinner planned for the 'guy from Kuwait' ... Captain Willie??? Whom might that be? Mike in Kuwait
I just returned from CB last night but didn't have enough free time to get with the local guys. Sorry I didn't give you a shout Joe & Doug.
Mike!! I spent some time last summer in the Cocoa Beach area. I can give u a lot of tips and places u have to go to. Just PM me if u want, ill tall you everything. One big advice: Watch out for those orlando cab drivers!!! They're all thieves!!! make sure they turn on the meter Ralph
Greetings Mike, Welcome Home ! On behalf of Scuderia Space Coast, welcome to the area... if only a short time, it'll be a good time. We'll plan on a BarBQ or a drive and dine on the 6th/7th, either at my condo or in Cocoa Village.... call me on my cell - 407 247 8306 and we'll work something up ! The SSC guys are already talking about doing something while you are here.... BT, if SSF wants to host a meal, I'll bring Mike down. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What great responses! Thanks, to everyone...! I'm thinking about extending my stay by one day to catch the Space Shuttle Launch on the morning of the 13th.... (thanks for the head's up Ralph!) Mike in Kuwait
I always seem to be out of town or otherwise tied up when the fun stuff happens, but I will actually be around the weekend of the 6th/7th. Cocoa is a short enough drive from Orlando...
Don't gas-up the car at the closest gas station to the airport before turning it in. I'm speaking about the gas station with the Wendy's that doesn't post their prices. They historically charge $1.50 to $2.00 per gallon OVER the prices charged by the three gas stations just 1 mile north of the airport. I hate to think of visitors leaving Orlando feeling they got @ss-raped as their final impression of our area. DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!! KevFla
Great advice, Kev... thanks... Steph, It would be great to meet you, and ... well.. everyone! It looks like I'll be free both Saturday and Sunday (my schedule is starting to firm up).... I have a couple of numbers to call (Thanks Gator and CaptWillie!) I'll start calling after I get there and settled... This is going to be Great! Mike in Kuwait (for another 2 1/2 hours)
A few SSC guys will be attending the FCA lunch at Schumann's tomorrow and we'll have some plans @ Monday for a gathering here on the coast.... maybe at the Port.... stay tuned....
My schedule is free the weekend of the 6th/7th, so will be available for any plans that firm up. Look forward to seeing some new faces.
But why would he want to drive ALL the way down there for second rate BT BBQ when he can dine with us?! Looks like we are doing a lunch on the 7th. Drop on by: http://www.scuderiaspacecoast.com/events.php. EDIT: and the thread - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138695301#post138695301
Yes, other thread please. If you are going to meet us at Millikens Reef than I believe Capt Willie needs a head count. If you are bringing the Ferrari to Hooters than we need the car count.
Here's the latest and greatest !!! Spoke with Millikens Reef Management !! They are very excited to have us come to the restaurant. They are the only restaurant with their own parking lot, and will reserve spaces up front for all of our cars. Their executive chef also owns Ferraris. The restaurant is located at Port Canaveral, right off of the 528 so those coming from Orlando or via 95 to the 528 will have only 2 stop lights to contend with. Located at 683 Dave Nisbet Dr. Cape Canaveral 32920. I need to let them know by Saturday night how many spaces to reserve, so please let me know. Either post a reply here or a PM will be fine. Should be a great time, and Steph - close to the beaches - and should give you plenty of sun time !!! As an added bonus - the Freedom of the Seas - the largest cruise ship in the world - will be docked across the water - see photo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
