Well, its time for the first road trip on the bike. I'll be riding the 748 down on Tuesday evening and leaving Thursday night. I've already spent plenty of time thinking about the sore forearms and the constant wrist pain;) I have to do a ghost tour on Wednesday night since that is my favorite thing to do in Charleston. If anyone else would like to go or if anyone is free for lunch or would like to meet up, please let me know. You can PM me or email at [email protected]. I hope the weather forecast changes, I don't want to have to hang out under overpasses on the way down...

no arm pump for you...hold on w/ your legs/knees!

you can be totally relaxed in your upper body. have lots of fun and be safe. be sure to get some yellow race tape to cover the leading surfaces of the faring behind the front tire. and btw...after you have fully fallen in love w/ your 748...you will need to buy my 748 race bike so you can begin your track phase!!!

    have lots of fun.

Not that you will need it, but the Ducati dealer is in North Charleston on Dorchester Road, easy to find. They seem very nice and helpful.

Hey Eric. I'm working in Columbia this week but should be home [Summerville] on Wednesday night. Might be able to get together if that matches your schedule. Otherwise could probably do lunch on Thursday.

Uro, thanks. I used to go there and look at bikes all of the time when I was younger. They always seemed to have the largest used selection.

Charles, I'm trying my hardest to go on a ghost tour Wednesday night. Lunch on Thursday would work though. I'll send you a PM.

Alright, just got back a good 12 hours after I wanted to get home. I was by Lake Marion when I could see the nice big storm clouds full of lightning coming, so I looked around and saw a Cracker Barrel sign and instantly thought of the big front porch to park my bike on. I ended up being at the Cracker Barrel for four hours, either eating or sitting on a bench on the front porch. I had to have talked to atleast 30 different people. It finally slowed down enough for me to drive to a motel a few blocks over and I crashed there for the night. I got up at 4:30 this morning and made the rest of the drive home. Now I get to go work a full day.

Here are some things I learned from this trip:
    1. Don't drive a Ducati to Charleston, it hurts.
    2. If you are dumb enough (aka me) to drive a Ducati to Charleston, invest in a nice seat, your ass will appreciate it. Also, your wife will appreciate your ability to still reproduce, which I could feel being taken away by the 1/4 inch foam and vinyl known as the stock seat.
    3. When you are driving at night, stay away from the white line along the right side of the highway. There is a disproportionate number of pot holes that come up fast in the dark over there and I came to call them "ball busters."

Thank you to Charles, Jason, and Pete for the lunch gathering. I'll be down again later this summer, though I'll probably drive a car this time.

PS: My bike is a 98. I bought it last week with 7608 miles on it. It has over 8800 miles on it now :). I put more miles on my bike in one week than it averaged per year in its lifetime.
