Were coming out for a wedding for a friend in Jackson Hole and then going on to Yellowstone for a few days. What is the best place to stay near Yellowstone. We want to see Old Faithful etc. Which area of the park should we look at?

We'll be coming on the 17th June until the 27th (probably). Any cool car places around?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris,

Try the website for Grand Teton Lodge Company. I think it is www.gtlc.com They have several options. I have stayed at Colter Bay in the log cabins. It is a bit rustic, but includes maid service. Colter Bay has a marina, short hikes and ranger station along with limited restaurant choices and a general store. Other options are Jenny Lake cabins. The queen of England stayed there back in the 1980's. Nicer but more pricey. Another option is Jackson Lake Lodge. It is more like a hotel. All of these are in Grand Teton Natl Park. Jackson Lake Lodge and Colter Bay are about 20 - 30 minutes from the South Entrance to Yellowstone. Then you can drive the lower loop to Old Faithful and even the upper loop.

If you are looking for night life, I would suggest trying to get a place in Jackson itself. The above options are about 45 minutes north of Jackson.

You are headed to an incredibly picturesque place. But don't get frustrated with the traffic in the National Parks. Also, the weather can change rapidly from hot and sunny to cold and rainy. I have been snowed on up there in July! Not often, but it did happen.
