I remember seeing a post about CFL lamps the other day. Does anyone here use the dimmable R30/R40 style in their homes?

I was looking at this one:

Is the energy savings worth the cost of the bulb?

I appreciate any "light" you can shed on this......

From my experience, they are not worth the money or the expense to see the benefit.

The cost is quite high for what you really get.

For: More lumins compared to incandescent
    Longer life
    Less energy comsumption.

Against: cannot be dimmed with a standard light dimmer, the dimmer must be specific.
Dimmer used that are not design for this will damage the lamps and
also cause the lower portion of the lamp to melt or burn.

Flourescent lamps have been proven to have an effect on your eyes
and have been documented to give headaches.

    Not a very natural lite

They don't really last that long.

They produce electical harmonics, which can cause problems in you
    electrical system.

    They may contain mercury.
There should be warning label. about if they are broken around children

The best choice would be LED lites ( lights) because they will last longer,
they can be dimmed using a Home Depot dimmer, they are a more natural lite( light)
Will not give you headaches, use even lees energy, should last about 10000 hrs (8760 hrs per year) do the math. They are a more natural light.
