What exactly was wrong w/ it? It was the Speed team we all know and love.

Granted, the announcers did dumb it down a bit for newbies, but I saw no major problems with the broadcast..

Greg, there was no prerace discussion, and there was no post race interviews. I didn't mind the explanations for the new viewer, but I did mind the constant little commercials in the lower left screen. It was a bad broadcast.

All I can say is without live timing on f1.com I would have missed at least half of what's going on during the race.

As bad as the usual announcers may appear to be, every time they have gone to other announcers, it has been worse. uch worse.

Regardless, live timing is essential IMHO.

The commericals are there to get the small amount of viewers . Fox knows that not to many people watch F1 so the were trying to max. their commerical. After all its about money.

They only had 2 hours to fit everything in. I understood that going in.

I too was disappointed that they didn't have the pre-race Peter Windsor grid walk, and the other pre-race discussion. Also, no post-race interviews.

FOX is not a motorsports channel, so I wasn't shocked at any of this.

Actually, I think the FOX airing is a more positive thing than negative experience. It hopefully reached a larger audience, and with Hamilton winning, this history-making race made found a larger than usual USA viewing audience.

Hey, it's not all bad, I didn't hear the phrase "He just went purple" once! Adjusting for the newbies isn't all bad!

It was not that bad at all, cbs was horrible. do a mass email to all your buddy's and get the ratings up by a few million people and you will have better coverage. MUCH better then cbs, not as good as Speed - better then nothing.

+1 - It was actually listed as being in HD on my (Directv) guide - I was stoked - But it wasn't. [Same thing with that BS golf tourney that followed btw]

Not getting the post-race interviews *sucked*, but other than that I thought they did an OK job - Tried to "explain" for the newb's without getting "stupid" and even David Hobbs was on his best behavior......

I also thought they announced that Derek Daly would be on the team during Fri practice but he never showed up, which is no great loss of course :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

They really need to cut down on commercials.

I would of liked a little pre and post-race coverage, but it was the commercials every four laps that drove me nuts. At least go side-by-side like ESPN does with IRL so we can still see what's happening!

To me, not covering the post race interviews was inexcusable especially given the historic aspect of Hamilton's win.

I did write to Lou D'Ermilio to tell him how bad the Fox coverage was. His response is:

    "Thanks for your note.

FOX's coverage was produced by SPEED Channel."
