    Hi Brian,
Having sold you many parts during my former career spanning several decades at Rutlands; I have learned to value your input and knowledge looking at things like this. I recently acquired a large batch of parts that came from a dealer in the mid 90's and then stored since. Some items show the effects of humidity and long storage. This clutch housing assembly was marked as I described by the Ferrari dealer. I looked carefully at the clutch shaft and did not notice signs of wear (as in the photo attached of the one I use as a clutch alignment tool) from the discs moving on the shaft, pilot bearing area of the shaft, gears, hardware, and other likely clues of not having any pieces in it that are newer, updated or would otherwise call it's marking into question and I am also taking into account other corresponding parts (like the flywheel... picture attached) that were part of the batch and how they were marked. The flywheel clearly shows its years of storage and having been mounted but not having the surface show the signs of use I would expect to see. Most of the new items that were in this same batch are easy to confirm like the pair of 348 window regulator assemblies still heat sealed on the original board. Or the Dino? ring and pinion still in its cosmoline coating? New but still 30 40 50 years old. I cant open them to check them without losing the original seal. So they will have to be marketed with it being clear that I will be opening and checking the items before shipping. My confidence in how other items seem to have been pretty accurately marked as New, Used, Warranty, Damaged, with hand written notes etc. being unusually good is also something I consider but I do look things over myself and make sure things look right to the best of my knowledge. Things like this clutch housing are sometimes difficult for a parts guy. We disassembled many many crate drive units over the years to sell the parts separately as new take off and these appeared to have been run at the factory or before being crated so it was always apparent that they were assembled and tested but they lacked signs of meaningful wear. I honestly did not see anything here that challenged the way it was marked or that would make me unhappy to start with this assembly if I was in need of one. I do however acknowledge your observations and am happy to change this listing description to USED for safe measure.
    Thanks,
    Lee Lantz
