Still putzing with the 930, but this applies to all track cars...

Slowly buying up safety equipment for HPDE...

Bought some Kevlar Cobra Suzuka seats, they are past the 5 year FIA time date for full on racing (which isn't what I am doing...)...

These can still be used for HPDE, etc. According to what I can find on the web, they can even be used for racing if a back brace is added... I also see that some organizatiosn require a seat brace even for new seats...

Is that pretty standard? I am sure I am not the first to ask, but might a seat back brace not increase risk of spinal injury?

The roll cage is solidly mounted, the seat brace is solidly mounted, so is the seat. If something hits the rear of your car, that force goes straight through the roll cage into your seat...

Counter argument is, without a seat brace, your set can flex and you fly out of the restraint...

    How do you guys run?

Any info on how much strenght a kevlar or carbon fiber seat loses with age? If I get into this more, would get brand new seats, but for now, for weekend HPDE this is a step up from factory...

Why aren't seta braces built with shocks? Gel? Something to absorb the blow rather than transmit it?

And the mother of all questions: Whats going to happen to all these high end cars that are all carbon fiber? Lotus? Konnesig? Newer porsches? Do these all go in the dumpster after 5-10 years as the composite has "dated out..."
