Hello All, What is the meaning of these readings? good? bad? why? Cylinder 1: 180 psi 2 : 175 psi 3: 175 psi 4: 180 psi 5: 180 psi 6: 175 psi 7: 175 psi 8: 175 psi Thanks, 355Blue
Even cold we never get comp readings like that. We do leak down tests cold with the engine out all the time. 1% or less leakage stone cold is the norm. Mahle rings have an end gap of .1mm. On a 355 with a good motor compression just does not vary hot to cold.
The results are so consistent though...... doesn't that point (maybe) to a gauge that's reading too low? Wouldn't a failed compression test usually result in a few good cylinders and a few bad? Not all of them in an equally mediocre state?
And now I'm curious...... I'm about to get the compression test results on a 348. Should they be all in that 200+ range as well? What would be good?
I cannot control how the test was done. I cannot evaluate the condition of the test equipment. I can only comment on data presented. It highlights that a test done by someone without the knowledge or ability to do so is a waste of time. I might as well be taking my own blood pressure. This same conversation has taken place hundreds of times in the 355 forum alone and the answers are always the same.
