Somewhere in your Internet Explorer (or Firefox) options, or perhaps firewall, you have to enable/accept cookies. Only thing I can think of right now.

Your cookies and info for loading pages quickly were erased when your hard drive died. They were stored on the hard drive. You will have to find all the users and passwords for all the sites. Just click on the 'forgot password' and have them resend it to your email.

    What OS do you use?

    What security do you use?

Do you have a hardware firewall as well as security software?

Can you access your old hard drive at all??

Do yourself a favor and install some sort of firewall/antivirus program. I think XP has some built-in firewall (I just upgraded so I am still figuring out what it has) but there are better ones out there, like Zonealarm. Better to be safe than sorry.

XP has a rudimentary built-in firewall and security. Try this

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Off

See if this allows you to open sites w/o signing in.

    Also,
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, Privacy

How is this set now? Try putting on Medium, if not already there.

    No guarantees...Windows is too unpredictable

A true security package, including anti-virus is an absolute must.
