I just bought a new dynex 5.1 surround sound card. I installed it properly, but when I started my computer, it didnt recognize any new hardware.
When I went to install the drivers that it came with, I got two warning messages: the first saying, "Undetermine card! Please do not click cancel on device manager! and the second saying, "OS not support!", but it clearly says windows xp is supported on the box.

    Help someone!

    Power down.

Pull it out of the slot.

    Reboot.

    Power down.

    Install in a different slot.

    Reboot.

That's where I would start first.

Also check the website of the manufacturer- likely they have updated drivers. It takes months from when a product leaves manufacture until it ships, goes through an importer, to a distributor, to a retailer, to you. In that time, these types of issues are frequently solved.

The fact that XP didn't recognize it means it's not natively supported, or the card is bad. If it's not natively supported, it means you need the driver from the company. Its probably a bad driver, although Whisky's suggestion to change slots is a very good one. it could be a resource conflict between slots on your motherboard, so that's a good thing to try first.
