Alright, well i decided to try to bring this on Fchat since im not doing anything good with this... I have a laptop and its an XP and my internest explorer version is 6.0, with 128-bit signal strength... Well the problem is, that basically i cannot get into any secure websites....such as i can go on Yahoo, plug in my username and password and then press log in,,,,yet it goes to the white page with all those wordings on it, "Error Page".....Well this does this to anything secure, such as i cant go on ticketmaster and search, i get the page but i cant put in my password or buy tickets and that dumb error page comes up...Ahhh! Well this happens to pages such as Ticketmaster, Email websites, Bank Accounts, anything logging in with secure settings or what have you... I do not know what the problem is, it could be that someone deleted my JAVA and so i tried to download it from the website....but an error comes up while downloading that "The Installer cannot procedd with the current interent proxy settings". Weird! Well if anyone can help me, or can tell me what the computer has that enables you to log into secure things.... Thanks a lot folks, I apprecaite it. John
Try going to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and then click Restore Defaults and hit Apply, then go to Programs and Reset Web Settings then hit OK and then OK again. Then close out of IE and open it back up. Also try running some Adaware programs, that could be a problem too. Could also have to do with the firewall, https usually runs on port 81, so if that is blocked then it won't work.
Thanks Walter!, but it seems like I am going to have to redo my whole computer... alright guys, what important stuff should i save, meaning gosh, i dont know what to save, i have a lot of important stuff... but what things are the most important that is the same for everyone that redo's their whole computer?? Thanks John
If you have any kind of firewall, look for the General Rules option and find the "allow connection to secure websites" option. I always have to find this if I reload Symantec Firewall.
The problem is with a Symantec application. You need to use their removal tool. Once it is done, and a reboot or two is over, you will be able to get into secure websites. Once that is confirmed, you can put back on the Symantec application. I believe it is actually the firewall application. You can also go here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/ppfdocs/2004080614001248?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=7 Or here for a Removal Tool: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymNRT_d4749.html
Dude your awesome!!! It works!!!!!! Now i dont have to save all my stuff and redo my whole computer.... Thank you very much, i appreciate it john
That's why I don't have any software firewalls, popup blockers, anti spyware software, etc... Just a really good corporate virus program. That with a good hardware router, and surfing the web safely and not clicking / going where you shouldn't is more than enough to keep your pc clean
