    My laptop has a "RJ-45" network port and I was wondering if I could use that port with an ethernet cable? i.e. Is a "network" connection interchangable with an ethernet connection?

    Network/Ethernet/RJ45 = all the same thing.

    RJ11 is where you are talking about the phone line.
