Dear all, last year I purchased a '79 400 A and have not regret it. I have put about 5.000 km. extra on the dial and after learning to know the car and finetuning and replacing pieces that tend to break if you start using a car like this on a regular basis I have the feeling I am getting to the point that the car is driving the way it was intended to drive .. :)

I am still looking for following pieces and was wondering whether somebody could give me some extra info:

column switch: Plastic inside the column is broken at one point not allowing me to put the high beams on permanently. I found the pice at eurospares (partnr. 103518) but was wondring whether this column switch was used in other less exotic cars meaning a less exotic price ...

    Interior lights: same question

I am sure one of you guys has already replaced these parts so all input is much appreciated.

    Best regards

    David

    Hi David,

Maybe you can post a picture. On the 412 i am sure they came from Fiat.
But think 400 and 412 are different.

Do not remember the model but was like the standard Fiat part bin usage.

    Hi
The column switch for 400a is a Vitaloni 745 -and they do crack with age.
The Eurospares ones and new ones I've seen are with black stalks intended for 308's.
Your 400 should have silver stalks. Otherwise they're same.

An alternative is to check out http://unobtainiumsupply.com/
He's posted several pictures on this forum of his work

I have to double check on the interior light, but I guess these are from the Fiat 130.

    Thanks all for your reply.

To Harald: Indeed checked with Eurospares and these ones are new ones intended for 308. Are costing around 750 € ...

To Flinch: Thanks for info, will check that with Fiat. Flinch were you not talking about one or two cars situated in Holland which are used for spares ? Might you be able to help get in touch with these people?

New piece I am also looking for is a Heat Control Valve (Rubinetto Riscaldatore, part 110066), not available anymore at Eurospares. The guy at Eurospares tought it might be identical to some Lancia / fiat parts. Can anybody confirm this and another hint where I might find this piece ?

A little bit annoying in summer when, if you put the regular blowers on, you only have warm heat. :)

    Hi David.

Still trying to get a hold on this Maserati Breaker that may hold one or 2 400s in parts.
The valve maybe an issue, as no new one are available anymore from Ferrari.

For the interion light you should contact ClassicPassion in Hekelingen, Holland. He sits on a pile of NOS Fiat parts and I would be amazed if he can not help you with these lights.

On the matter of the heat valve (110066 wil fit), I just found a few new repros at Ebay. All are around $275 at several suppliers.

    Flinch,

Thx. for adresses. I have decided to first take out the heat valve and make a temporay bypass. Then closely examine the valve and, you never know, perhaps we can fix it.
    Best regards David
