Interesting ruling on the concorde disaster by the French courts. Other than opening the door for further civil litigation, what does this ruling contribute to future prevention of similar incidents? Any thoughts or opinions by the airline folks on this site?

French court fined Continental airlines, and the Continental mechanic that replaced a wear strip incorrectly. The finding is that the part fell off the Continental plane, was picked up by a tire on the Concorde, which in turn threw debris into the fuel cell. End result was catastropic end of this flight and the Concorde program permanently. French aviation officials named is this case were acquitted. This is according to the New York Times today.

    That's ridiculous.

Maybe they should maintain their runways better. They're just trying to stick it to a U.S. company.
