My photos (fwiw!) http://www.400gt.com/misc/concorso-2011/ It was a good show, but now they've put us waaaaaaaaay down at the bottom of the show (we used to be at the top -- now Ferrari is) Had a blast! Lots of old friends to catch up with. Leno came down to say hi to Jack and his red 400GT 2+2 (mine is the silver 400GT 2+2) and so did Winkleman. Aaron Robinson was there with his new Espada, and managed to swap the carbs out as he was having problems with the old set. Had a feeling that this was a light showing by the vintage Lambos -- maybe more were at Quail or just doing something else. But still it was a good showing. Fred
Hey Fred, Did you catch the chassis# of the green Miura SV, a couple down from you? Not the green S (with SV rear rims!)
Thanks for sharing Fred. Very light showing of the older Lambo's indeed! Do I see only 1 Countach in all of your photos???? I can't believe more didn't show up. Or, are there more out of the photo's in other areas? Mike
Yeah, there were a couple of Countachs, but not much. And I didn't look at the Miuras so I don't know the numbers. The green one was Greg Dahlin's, at least the green one just down from me. Poor Greg -- after all the work and money he put into that car, it never ran. Gary and Claudio worked on it all day -- nothing. Frankly, it is hard to judge how successful Concorso was this year as we were SO far away from the action. It's like we had our own show. I'm sure most folks didn't even get down that far. Whoever is in charge of all this certainly doesn't like Lambos very much, that's for sure. Yet oddly enough, I had a great time. The people that counted (in my book) were there and I had a lot of nice conversations with a lot of nice regulars. Frankly, I'm tempted to form my own danged club so we can start getting some recognition. Maybe in a few years... Fred PS: Mike, there were some other Lambos scattered all over. I think the planning this year -- on both the Lambo/club end of things as well as the Concorso end of things -- was awful. Somebody let the ball drop somewhere...but that didn't change anything among the regulars, who of course all gathered around Jack's lunch table
lol! Well, MOST of them knew. The ones that mattered knew. I mean -- it's not like he doesn't stand out. I shook his hand and told him I had an upcoming Gallardo article in the Robb Report, and that this was my 400GT...and he was nice. But didn't really have time to stick around and chat, so he was off on a golf cart. Sheesh! I really don't think corporate cares much about these old cars. I really don't. (in fact, I wonder if they even know what they are! Valentino on the other hand, he was very nice and took the time (went out of his way) to chat with me.
Fred, Thanks for posting your photos, and taking the time to answer my beginner questions early in the day. The 350/400 series is perhaps the ultimate in my book. I'm looking to graduate someday to one. In the meantime, I managed to have a blast with my very crusty '61 Maser 3500 GT. At one time, I had more passengers on the outside, than in the inside on Friday (the Maser tailgate parties are the best). Many Thanks, RF (Red Fred) SF, CA
We spoke in my broken Italian...and talked about the myth of the Balboni Road in Italy, which doesn't really exist....and talked about how much fun he is having at the Concorso and Pebble. What a nice guy. Cheers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
