I've been seeing some photo's folks have been posting and am once again kicking myself for not going!!! ARRGGH!!! I need to get down there again! I have not been since 1999!! :-(

Just a general question for anyone that might know.....

Does anyone know why Lamborghini Corporate did not have a presence at Concorso this year? I figured since this is the largest gathering of Italian cars in the USA, they'd have a booth there? Didn't they used to be a corporate sponsor at one time?

Lamborghini corporate like just about every other high end manufacturer have set up shop at the Quail. Rolls, Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Aston Martin etc were all at the Quail.

Being a dealer, It seems to me they should be at the largest Italian car show in the world. The Quail is nice and very expensive but they are limited to three thousand guests and not all of them are Italian sportscar fans where at Concourso, they are all Italian car fans and quite a few of them are owners or intend to be. Over the years I have met and sold quite a few cars from this show and while I do like attending the Quail with my Rolls Royce and Bentley clients, business wise, for Italian cars the Concourso beats it hands down.
It is two different shows with two different type of clients.

I was there and I have no idea if Lamborghini corporate was there or not, just that I got free coffee and yummies...so maybe they were? There was a lamborghini tent, I parked my (silver) 400GT next to that

(I guess Lamborghini tent to the left on the lower photo (??) with the green umbrellas)

Thats the Lamborghini sections hospitality tent. You got a colored wrist band with your cars ticket purchase that allowed entry to the appropriate tent.

IIRC, lambo corp was a primary sponsor of the tarmac swap meet version of concorso a few years back but bailed at the last moment and has not ventured back since.

Fred, I took a good look at your 400gt. A very nice car. Where did you get it and how long have you owned it?

The short story was that this new golf course was a five year agreement with an option for five more.

The longer story is that for 2008, Concorso was unable to use the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey due to some course reconstruction. During a good chunk of 2008, Concorso was trying to secure Pacific Grove golf course (would have been on the ocean) but ran into some hurdles. When time expired they were out of locations and thus the airport happened. One has to wonder when the current five year agreement runs out if Pacific Grove might be a plan again.

    Thanks Monte! appreciate it.

I bought it in 1982 (when I was 27) and then restored/rebuilt it myself in 1983. There are some pix of my restoration at the bottom of this page:

I just love the car, and at this point just pretty much drive it "when I can."

    Cheers,

    Fred
