I am getting ready to order my tickets and I am thinking I will probably order the standard spectator tickets . I haven't been to the Concorso since it has moved from Quail Lodge so it's been a while. In the past I didn't find the food all that great and if I have time to go the the Kruse auction I don't really need a reserved seat. To me the food and the reserved auction seats look like the main differences. Does anyone feel the gold Class tickets are worth the additional cost?

Can't argue with a more prestigious bathroom. I was poking around the site and had the same question. But for $75-$100 I thought I might bring a car to display.

I was going to post and ask whether anyone here has brought a 308 to this event, or whether it would stick out among all the six-figure glamour cars. I'd like to participate and wouldn't mind shipping a car up from San Diego to Monterey. How perfect does your car have to be to display?

Just curious - I'm hoping to have that perfect-ish 308 in a month or two.

(Scorpion - didn't mean to hijack your thread - just wanted to expand on it. ;) )

Last year I displayed my '78 308 GTS and was one of many. Have no fear, 308s are welcomed and respected. Personally I wouldn't pay extra for the Gold tickets. In fact, displaying a car was the cheapest entry to the event. Mine is the red one between the green and yellow ones.

The real value of a Gold ticket is the VIP parking, IMHO. But last year, they sold too many Gold tickets, and the VIP parking lot filled up by 8:30AM. If you're showing a car, than this is less of a concern, of course.

Thanks Zigno. Great photos. Yeah it looked like being an exhibitor is the way to go. I'm really looking forward to attending one of these, this year or next.

I went ahead and ordered the standard tickets. Much as I'd like to exhibit my car it's a bit of a long drive from Kentucky. The Concorso is a must go for any Italian car person. Along with Ferrari's, Alfa's, Maserati's, Lamborghini's, Fiats and Lancia's there are cars you never see - Bizzarinies(sp?), OSCAs, etc, plus special body/coachwork and prototypes. It's an incredible week in Monterey.

If you haven't already and will be attending, both of you guys need to arrange lodgeing asap as the Concorso is the same week as the Monterey Historics and hotels and motels within several miles will be full up.

... not to mention Quail, Pebble, RM, Christies, Gooding, the list goes on. I've made it a point to book in September the last few years. Somehow, though, the reservation agent always seems to know . . . .

    < Last September >
Me: I'd like a room for 4 nights starting on August 18, 2005.
Agent: Going to Concours, huh? That'll be $300 a night - four night minimum.

I stayed in Watsonville--easy access to both the Concorso and Laguna without having to go anywhere near Monterey itself; also a fairly easy drive to and from the Bay area (if you don't mind the hazards of route 17, that is).

We just booked the Holiday Inn Express at Marina - about $120 a night Wednesday with prices going up to about $260 a night for Thursday and Friday. A lot of the hotels/motels are full.
