When I was looking at one of the LP640's with my dad, I looked up and saw the Carrera GT driving up! We followed it to the garage where it parked. The owner invited us to come in and take pictures. My dad and I talked to him for a few minutes. His Carrera GT was the first one made with carbon fiber attached to the engine. I think that helps stabilize the back end. He also showed us what he had covered up. An Ariel Atom! He was going to take it out to see if he could run on the other course. I saw him take the Atom out, and then the Carrera GT again later.

Ha ha, that was crazy. I told my dad that you could not pass on the parade laps. Right after I said that, someone in an Audi S4 passes us and the Lotus in front of us in the break zone. On one part after that, he flew past the Diablo VTTT and the LP640 as they were slowing down right before another break zone! Craziness

Great event, best fun I've had in a while despite the sunburn. Big thanks to all the folks at Lamborghini of Dallas for putting the event together. I got a ride in the LP640, my only complaint is the driver didn't push it hard enough but from what I understand the Gallardo makes for a much better track car. Other than that the ride was still a blast. Congrats on the big win Phil, good job on dominating all those imports competing against you. With that said click the link below to view my event photos, enjoy.

Great pictures, I see myself in a few of them.:) I am the younger guy that was walking around with a camera and video camera. I had sun block, but forgot about it when the sun came out. Did not think about it until leaving and felt my neck! Great time. . . . I will have my pictures up later. I just was wondering if I should really worry about blurring license plates and faces? Not sure how most owners feel about this.

Surely there's some more pics. I was running the 1.3 and noticed someone with a camera on pit wall. Would love to see how those turned out since I distinctly recall seeing the end of the lens as I hit the front straight.

It doesn't look like it was Hart and I'd imagine he was busy over on the 1.7.

Sorry for the late post but....

Yeah maybe a little too enthusiastic with the Audi, probably the first and last time I get to pass a Ford GT and Twin turbo Diablo so what the heck.
A sucker punch is as good as any.

I tooks some pics and will have them up ASAP, I just need to get a photo editing program to edit the plates and faces first. The free trial version I was using expired. Or, unless I should not worry about it? I don't know how the owners feel about this. . . .

Mostly took off the track pics BTW. Will have a better lense next time.

You know better than that, you actually have some racing experience, so know better than to pull that on parade laps and sounds like the corner moves would even get you kicked out of a DD. I wasn't there and didn't know what they told y'all, so I will shut up. I have seen the track organizer himself (Keith) bump draft in DE sessions. :D

    I do know better.
It was just so frustrating lapping at those speeds and corners at 20 mph in Exotics ? All passes made were done nowhere near the limits.
That said, It wont happen again.

You have the racer blood and I imagine you haven't gotten your fix lately. :) Parade laps are parade laps, DE's are DE's, and Club Racing is Club Racing. I've seen too many bad things happen on the track and streets, we loose at least 5-10 FC'ers a year to car wrecks. Most of them were just dumb accidents doing something where they shouldn't have been doing it.

I don't know the situation there, we obviously don't always follow the letter of the law. I've hit 3 digit speeds on rally's and even made a safe shoulder pass on a recent one. I don't care if the authorities are reading this post, if I was worried about the safety or legal consequences, I wouldn't have done it in the first place. It was a safe pass and I assume the consequences of getting a hefty ticket when I do it.

Don't mean to preach, but lets come back alive.

LightGuy I have asked that you contact me about parade lap activity and expect that you will do so. Did you consider the fact that cars you passed had persons without helmets, not expecting overtaking (in fact it is forbidden), many drivers having ZERO on track experience, and there was an excellent chance the drivers were not watching their mirrors. There were also no corner workers (they were eating lunch), yet another reason for the strict low speed and no passing requirement. Finally, some cars may have had children in them, as we encourage families to go out and see the track from the other side of the fence. From a purely selfish point of view, are your liability insurance limits enough to pay for the hardware you went by?

Your behavior was in no way cute, amusing, tolerable and will not be condoned. You may have even doomed parade laps for everyone, as we will have no choice but to shut down the track completely if people will abuse the privilege and courtesy we tried to offer.

You want to race, then race at a proper venue, but how could you derive any satisfaction or pride at all out of going by cars out to parade and tour the track? If you wanted to go fast, why not sign up for the track event?

OK, LightGuy contact Keith offline, lets also take any more discussion about this offline too. I think LightGuy knows he made a mistake.

What can I say but Sorry ?
I was actually hoping this would fade away but it appears it will not.
Jeopardizing future parade lap possibilities for others is my main concern.

The silver Exige - the loud one.
    :)

No worries about my plate or face, the factory guys know I track my car and have even passengered in it at MSR.

I'd love to see any pics anyone got (selfishly, of me, of course), especially on track. Feel free to do whatever with them, just cull out the ones where I'm off the line.
    ;-)

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think writing up an apology letter for Keith to forward to the participants involved would be a good thing to do. At least, it's what I'd do. We all pull a boneheaded move from time to time, what we do about it is what displays our character - every once in a while, we just have to man up and take our licks.

I would be happy to email you pictures of your car, until I get the pictures up on my site. I didn't get any of it on the track, but some when it was parked a little ways behind the other grey Exige.:)

Aw, I remember the fellow. He wanted to go fast, and paid the price it seemed.

Where you the owner of the Integra Type-R?

I got to say, out of all the cars, your's was the most enjoyable to see.
BTW, I believe you met my cousin for a brief second about the number of VTTTs. I think he said you recalled 5, though I had seen a picture of one with plate #007.

    Lucky you!

I looked for him for quite a while, but gave up. Only got one shot of him. Was I also the only one to catch the Alpina Z8 that came in for a short time.

    And one last question.
Who owned the orange and blue Elise? That was quite a beaut.

Anyways, between the my cous' and I, I believe this first shot was our highlight picture.

Except for a few minor things like...

You expect and are looking for passing on the street.

There are multiple lanes clearly marked and rules of the road.

On the street you aren't "taking the racing line" across 3 lanes of traffic and cutting inside someone with one turning lane.

Yes, drivers on the street are nuts at times.

Regardless, when you show up to any track you are there as a guest and as a guest you follow their rules. It doesn't matter if you agree with the rules or not, you follow them anyway. Do people invited as a guest to another's home show up and then tell the host how things are going to be?

I definitely agree. I just don't see Rob's point as being as relevant as we would like it to be. Maybe I trust the folks at any DE, parade laps or not, as being a little more conscious, even when they break a rule.

Driving on the streets around here is a better preparation for competition than should be. Thinking about it is giving me a headache.....

I trust the others on track because we're all agreeing to and playing by the same rules. If that's not the case, that trust flies out the window. Never underestimate that the trust I'm speaking of is basically trusting another driver with your safety.

    Same holds true for racing.

The street is a different story altogether - I expect people to behave like idiots on the street just the same as I expect people to behave like competent adults on track.

It doesn't matter if it's a race, open track, or a DE - you agree to the rules up front and stick to them.

Cool, thanks! Bummer no on track shots though - I'll wait until you get them up on your site in that case.
    :)

That is 98R648's (Nicola) Integra Type R, he was running in the advanced group. I was there to drive the A TEAM / Scooby Doo support van. We talked about trying to run parade laps in it to see how well it would do.
