On the suggestion of Don Franzen (dfranzen), a super cool Mondial 3.2 driver whom I'd met at the kinda sorta rained out Ferrari Day at Supercar Sunday last month, I decided to enter my '87 328GTS in the Concorso Pasadena.

There was an pretty unbelievable array of Ferraris out there. Unlike anything I'd ever had the opportunity to see before in one place. All the 330's. And 365's. And 512BB's. And that 288GTO. Good Lord. And, obviously a great mix of 308's and 328's.

I had never had my car judged before, and didn't expect too much from it. In fact, the week of the show I decided that rather than take it to be detailed, I'd simply do the best that I could on my own. Other than swapping out the metal Cavallino tire valve caps for black rubber, and gluing my emergency light bag back together at the seams, that was about it... A layer of Griot's Best in Show wax, some wheel cleaning, conditioning the leather and rubber... The standard stuff. I don't trust myself to properly detail the engine, so I just wiped down what I could.

Anyway - to my surprise I ended up winning a Platino award. Which was quite thrilling. I haven't seen the full list of deductions. I believe I lost marginal points for my cracked fuel bib (I've ordered a new one as a present to the car for winning the award), and for a small chunk out of the door seal from a rogue door panel screw. There must have been other incremental deductions, but the judges seemed to like the original, preserved nature of the car and encouraged me to just make sure that I keep driving it.

I wish I had taken more pics of it, but I was too busy shooting everything else on display. I've included what few pics I have of my car and some of my other favorites.
