does anybody have any experience with this? i have an investment property that i am looking to have the driveway redone with a stamped stone pattern. instead of removing and repouring the drive completely, several contractors have said they now smooth some epoxy polymer over the drive and stamp the pattern on that. apparently, this stuff is used on bridge jobs all over the country.

i inspected some previous work but i hvae questions about longevity, seperation, cracks, etc vs a normal stamped concrete job.

It will be fine, unless you are in 'severe' winter conditions, ie sub-freezing, with some snow and ice. Not the arctic, but not St. Louis, either, but some place like Chicago or Madison.

Anyway, I am in an 'average' winter climate, some snow, some ice, some days or weeks where it's between 5 and 20 degrees, and the stamped stone is fine - for about 3 years, then it deteriorates, stones come loose in patches, etc.

Best thing I can suggest is to drive around in neighborhoods where you might see folks that have had this done, and ask the owners how old it is.

Investment property? I dont know what your budget is, but its usually

    Asphalt - Cheapest
    Concrete - Middle
    Pavers - More Expensive

Go down about 20 topics to cedar deck or stamped concrete. The last pic is a spray on process. It's been well worth the cost but as stated above, extreme freeze and thaw cracks concrete.

See if the contractor or the manufacturer offers a warranty. Use it as a bargaining chip.
