Apologies if this is a repeat....

Over the last 2 days I've seen no less then 5 people nabbed for speeding, and one guy was just barely going faster then everyone else. They're harvesting income out there.

Be particularly aware of what appears to be a black Dodge Challenger or whatever that muscle-like Dodge is. At first you think you'll have some fun with another go-fast car, then the lights come on and you abruptly realize it's the CHP's newer model car. The officer even so much as told me that coming up behind sports car often prompts throttle response.

On the flip side, it sure is nice this time of year when the hills are all lush n' green!

101 through TO and Newbury Park....

They have been using motorists to fund their courthouse for 25 years! My favorite touch is how all the surface streets in Ventura have center dividers with no U turn signs at the far too infrequent breaks. Entrapment!

That's spot-on true, but they seem to be really at it with renewed vigor. I've seen a lot of action from Parkway Calabasas to about Westlake Blvd. I could almost swear they've planted some new bushes underneath and around the bridges where they remain nested with a laser gun.

This morning a guy was barely even moving faster then anyone else and the CHP just plucked him up for proce$$ing. Similar thing yesterday too, it's rampant.

Three days ago, myself...my Valentine-1 and lucky-leprachuan failed me. LOL. I saw what appeared as a mean black muscle car coming up on my tail so I got on it a bit, maybe to the tune of a buck-ten. I didn't wanna get crazy for fear of cops & safety, so I didn't go higher. Behind, he keeps getting cut-off by traffic but he seems determined to pass me. Finally he gets an open shot & comes flying up on my tail and I figure "oh well, today speed racer in American muscle gets to blow away a Ferrari"....so I cruise and just let it happen, but instead of passing me, he lights me up! SURPRISE, new CHP cars and they look nothing like the traditional cars...very sporty, like an interceptor or something.

The officer, friendliest guy in the world, concedes that many sports cars don't recognize the new CHP car and often hit the gas as soon as he pulls-up in their rear view....but he goes on to explain that he laser-tagged me miles back and just had a tough time catching-up to nab me. Writes me up for 80mph and sends me on my way to do the Internet traffic school thing. It's cool, first ticket in a long time, gotta support the local gov't. ;)

The worst part is actually when they pull you over and you have to wait there on the street while the ticket is being drafted...so many passing motorist find it sublimely comforting to see a Ferrari getting a ticket, it's like justice being served and an answer for our economic problems or something. A few sympathetic nods. Life goes on. :)

Corridor is running wide with laser for sure

    LOL....

I used to travel on the 101 up there almost daily and always used to breathe a sigh of relief as I crossed back in to "Good 'ol LA County". I don't know if you have ever had the displeasure of facing a downtown Ventura County judge but e-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y's guilty and the fines are steep!

Simi Valley Ct was a little better for some reason though...

steve alludes to a "laser gun" in his post.. so while the V1 tends to be excellent at detecting radar (almost too sensitive, as it tends to give false positives often enough), by the time it beeps for a laser alert, you've usually been tagged already. heh..either that, or there's an Infiniti FX w/ cruise control driving in the opposing lanes....pretty annoying.

it is possible that the V1 could pick up laser from another car being tagged near you, but since lasers are a lot more focused than let's say radar, this is far more unlikely a scenario. also, i believe officers are trained to aim for flat / reflective parts of your car (e.g. license plate), and the V1 being mounted near the windshield won't necessarily pick up on a beam aimed at the lower front (or rear) of your car.

and yeah, to steve's point, i've unfortunately seen plenty of unmarked black and silver dodge chargers w/ lights flashing behind unsuspecting cars here on the east coast too..

Pay particular attention to speed traps. Spots where the speed limit is lower than everywhere else based on some engineering survey.

Someone said recently if you're going to speed really speed. Go about 3 exits down(can't get a visual) and then make 3 rights and stop. Good luck with that one though ;)

    Arnaget is right.....

My V1 has saved me several times too, but cops have gotten smart!! Check out how he got me...I scoped it out today while on the way to & from the gym:

It would seem they have planted some nice bushes around bridges and over-passes, and around on & offramps. They create little pockets or "blinds" so you can't see them nestled in their hide-out. My V1 is on, but it can only detect laser or radar being shot towards the car...'towards' being the operative word. While the V1 can detect energy coming from the front, the side or behind...it can't detect what is not shot towards the vehicle.

The officer was tucked behind his blind and shot my rear license plate as I passed him. Before I passed him, his sporatic triggering was shooting well out in front of me in the same direction I'm going. That means cars with detectors on the other side of the freeway may pick him up, but not his target audience. So they are no longer shooting at you as you approach them, they're tagging you as you pass them. ZAP; caught!!

I have to say though...he was so nice & friendly about it that it was almost a pleasant experience. Go figure.
