Finally everything is laid out! We will meet at the Summitt Shopping Center http://www.thesummitonline.com/louisville/index.html (4300 Summit Plaza Dr. Louisville, KY 40241) at 9:30 a.m. leaving at 10:00 a.m. I have a route that will take us out 64 to Peytona where we can get on U.S. 60 and drive that back into Louisville (lots of horse land and scenery). Coming back we will jump on the Gene Snyder for a short bit down to River Road where we can have lunch at Captain's Quarters (5700 Captain's Quarters Road, Harrods Creek, KY 40027) http://www.cqriverside.com/index.htm. We should make it to Captain's Quarters by 12:00 p.m. After lunch we will head out 71 to Bedford where we will pick up U.S. 42 (another scenic road) that will lead us down to Rose Island back up to 42 and over to Covered Bridge Road and 1694 (two very nice windy roads!!) and we will end up back at the Summitt Shopping Center. Morning drive is scheduled to take 1 hour 30 minutes, lunch from 12 pm to 1:30, and the afternoon drive is scheduled to take 1 hour 50 minutes. So by 3:30 pm, we will be done and/or you can head down to the Air show http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org/. I will have maps the day of the drive with my mobile# in case anybody can't keep up/gets lost/pulled over/stops to buy a horse/breaks down/runs out of gas/etc.! PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE CONFIRMED TO BE THERE FOR LUNCH!!! THE RESTAURANT NEEDS TO KNOW HOW MANY TABLES TO RESERVE. LET ME KNOW HOW MANY CARS ARE COMING AND IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR SPOUSE/FRIEND. Thanks!!!
I'm going to have to leave South Bend at like 2:00 in the morning! That blows! Matt, great job organizing. I'm still trying to find a car I can borrow - not many people are willing to let me drive it all the way to Indianapolis, so I'm not sure if I'm coming or not. Rick, Dan, h2olilly, it looks like we will need to meet at Butler around 5:00 am. I just sent Rich a pm about meeting in Cincinnati.
Was at a Porsche club meeting tonight and mentioned this. Will pass along to spread the word on the final plans.
That's early!! You could come for just lunch and the afternoon drive. That is why we have two drives. The morning drive is good for those that live close by or in Louisville that are planning on taking their families down to the air show. The lunch and afternoon drive is good for both locals and our out of town guests. Guys as you confirm that you are coming, PLEASE let me know which drive/s you are coming for and how many people you will have for lunch. The restaurant is on the river and given the events for the day I have to be able to give them a realistic number for the lunch reservations to assure we have seating. Thanks! Matt
I'd vote for skipping the leg to Cincinnati and driving from Indy straight to Louisville. This would push back our departure by at least 2 hours. Rick
Come on fellas, the weather forecast for the sat is great ( 64* & sunny ) so please confirm your attendance..
three cars and a total of 5 for lunch. p.s. - I know the owner of CQ; if our group for lunch is more than 10 cars more or less, I'm sure he can get a dedicated section of the parking lot. I'll need to know asap. route sounds great Matt - you want to run the morning (I-64/Peytona) one this Sunday morning?
I would love to, but I am going on the family route for Easter. I think we are above 10 cars. We talked to the manager about reserving a portion of the lot, if you could talk to the owner I am sure that would help. Matt
I'll be there on my own and will confirm 2 more cars, hopefully soon..Btw what's going on with the cinti/indi crowd,no one has posted any confirmation yet..
Richard told me he won't be able to go. I've sent PMs to Robert and Gordon about it and haven't heard back. So I think meeting at Butler and driving straight to Louisville would be the best route too. I assume Rick is going to come then, and Dan says he will come if there is good weather. It is supposed to be nice so I think you can count on 3 Indy guys coming in 2 cars.
its not looking good for now I wont know for sure likely till Friday If things work out I can just chill in the parking lot looking at cars during lunch
I would have loved to come, but it is our anniversary on the 22nd and my wife's birthday on the 24th so she would kill me if I told her I wanted to go to KY for a nice ride with fellow f chatters..... Damn, I really would love to go, but there is always next time! sounds like it will be a blast! Great route! gordon
Starting to feel like all F-guys are backing out from driving to Ky,i hope it's not the mileage thing or is it ? Any way we'll give them a 2nd chance to make up for this in the near future.. Btw 2 cars are confirmed from my side,my C2 Turbo and a friends Protomotive C4 TT...so who else has confirmed so far ?
Things are not looking too good. Nobody wants to let me drive their car for 6 hours and Greyhound would be expensive. I don't think I'll be coming either Maybe this summer we could do something? Kentucky isn't nearly as far from Dayton as it is from South Bend.
Right now Saturday is supposed to be 72 and mostly sunny. The following have confirmed with how many people should be coming: indaville - 2 vettkiller - 1 daltmo - 2 yasir - 1 doug - 5 gershwin - 5 It sounds like we should have 13 cars and 16 people. Not bad for our first try. Are we missing anyone? Matt
