Nice pictures. We went with Risi also, and it was fantastic.
My wife stayed until about 1am then went to get some sleep, and came back Sunday morning. The thought of sleeping never crossed my mind.
    I loved it!

Nice to hear there were other Texans there. I didn't run into another American the whole time, and we had plenty of people coming by our camp site asking what flag we had flying. Every other flag was Danish or the Union Jack.

Sleep never crossed my mind either. I think in the 6 days we spent there (or driving to/from), I don't think I ever slept more than 4 hours in a row. For the race, we went all the way around the track finding different vantage points to watch. This was the best one, just a few meters from one of the straights, out in a field where we probably shouldn't have been. Pure darkness until the headlights would go flying past...

We take the bus excursion to Arnage and Mulsanne - best way to do it. Spend an hour at each place. Mulsanne was like that a couple years ago when we were there at 23:30 and it still wasn't totally dark. They did frown on photos being taken, especially up close to the fence if your were using a flash....makes good sense. The last couple years, we've met up with another guy on FChat and his US friend that lives in London (who I admire as he doesn't plan to move back to the us). It was a good race, not nearly as exciting as last year's finish with TK and the Peugeot in an absolute downpour on the start/finish straight and totally dry on other parts of the circuit. A couple years ago we left the circuit before the race was over and watched the remainder in a restaurant by the gare in Le Mans. That was the year Pirro held up the hand written sign for "Safety Car" - rain, rain and more rain. . . you could only get so wet!!! I was sorry to see the Lizards go out about 05:30 - we were over at Tetre Rouge when that happened, those are a great bunch of guys (Jennifer is always so nice too). This year there was more activity all night long than in the past. The one ACO shop at the end of the tribunes to our right was still open with a crowd at 04:00, I think they closed for about an hour. Lots of activity in the ferris wheel area too, along with more food vendors open.

    You going back next year?

Not sure what the plan is for next year, though we already sent in for camp site reservations. I started in Denmark and road tripped with some Danish friends this year. We're thinking about maybe hitting Monaco next year instead, but we better get on planning it now if we want to make it happen.

Le Mans was definitely a great experience and one I'm glad I did. I've been to a few ALMS races here in the States, but nothing has compared to that crowd. It was amazing how many people were still at the track past midnight still into the race, and the energy at the finish was incredible.

That's a different, interesting way to do Le Mans. That explains the flags on the car window then! So you cheered for TK and Team Essex??? Where did you end up camping?? Monaco is great but we don't go for the F1 race, instead, we go to the Historics - they are held every two years, 8 & 9 May 2010. The F1 race is something like two weeks later. Price is far better than the F1 race, some awesome racing and the stand is fantastic - sit anywhere you want - it's Grandstand K. If you are on top, you can look over the top to the start, in the stands you see them go up Ste Devote, the large screen tv is by there facing you, coming out of the tunnel, thru Tabac, past the stand and past into the Swimming Pool. Duncan Dayton (ALMS Highcroft) is an excellent driver and won several races last time in various cars. Everyone seems to think you should pay major dollars and sit at the restaurant as Rascasse but when you walk the circuit past there, the view is very limiting with the fence at the turn. Cost for the Historics in '08 was 40 GPB for the weekend. There's still rooms at a decent price in Nice for the Historics, probably very scarce for the F1 race.
