How do you guys connect a batter charger on a 550? How do you get the wire under the hood without cutting the wire when the hood is closed or messing up your paint when the wire comes out the hood?

On my 328 I am able to snake the charger up from below. Is that possible on a 550?

    Thank you

If you're talking about a regular house power cord its no problem, just don't close the hood all the way.

The hood open warning on the dash will remind you to unplug it.

My technician attached the trickle charge wire and quick disconnect plug to the fuse panel in the car interior for my 1995 456 GT. Has worked flawlessly for 1.5 years. I never forget to disconnect the quick disconnect plug since the wire is draped over the seat and out the door sill. Clearly visible before I drive away.

Passenger door closes without a problem and wire does not get crimped and paint does not get chipped. Body of charger sits just outside the door on the concrete floor. The unit does get slightly warm. When unclipped at the plug I have a 4" wire and plug/ wire hanging from below the dash. I just tuck it into the edge of the carpeting.

It depends which charger you have but you could get one of waterproof motorcycle type sockets and run it from the battery between the hood and the seal into the gutter with the wipers - in this way you can close the car completely when charging and it is ok to leave open to the elements when driving
